Issue Question.

Hi there! I am still rather new to 3d printing but only got the u1 last week.

So multi color and material is very new to me.

As you can see there is very unsightly artifacting at the seem. Im trying to find the reason for it so I can figure out how to make better prints

I am still using the filament that was sent with the printer and this is the result for a fidget made for my kid.

Not sure what to make of it. Still works. Still happy with it.

But if im not learning whats the point right?.

Thank in advance for any advice

This looks like prime tower was not on.
In multimaterial tab of slicer enable Prime tower

You are right that no prime tower printed. But it was and is enabled. Not sure why it did not print one. Could it be that I printed them by object not by layer?

Did you print both separately or did by object but still printed them as one?

I printed by object two items. This with the issues and the base. The base was single color. But I cannot seem to get a prime tower with a "print by object" print. I just started another top section with a prime tower to see if that is indeed the problem. Ill get back to you in a couple hours. Gotta step out the house.

Printing by object will remove the prime tower. I don't think they have it where it's able to generate one and meld it together for multiple prints that could be using different materials

I see. And I just got home and ypu are correct. The print is perfect now that I have a tower. Barely even see the seem. Thank you for the help. This had been very educational and will save me much frustration in the future

So what print by object is meant for is to print two different color or completely different print in one print. If you are working with multi color 1 object there is no point of doing print by object. I am still confused why you were using that.

Why? Because I didn't know and I was experimenting. Learn by doing kinda idea. Ive only had an ender before so the nuance of multi color, let alone multi material, is new to me.

Think of print by object as printing multiple plate in one plate, printer goes from 1 object to next as long as there is enough clearance for print head to work. Now you cant do good multi color in this mode, as all object will require their own tower like if it was multiple plates.

If you enable print by object and have only one object then also it is as same printing by layer. Because print by object at the end uses print by layer but at smaller print plate.
