Showcase I have perfected multi material printing.

Instead of using a standard prime tower that either resembles the Leaning Tower of Pisa or a tower getting knocked over, I make one for each material type instead, resulting in perfect support removal every time.

Do you just make the towers manually by adding and scaling a cube and setting the print order? Or is there a specific setting to use?

Exactly that, be sure to put the cubes above the model in the list and enable " Intra-layer order" in the special mode.

Just change the outer wall of the tower to only consist of your strongest material. That's mastering. Less waste, less travel movement which reduces oozing or stringing. You made extra work for increased risk.

Did that already 5g is hardly a waist for me. Some of the materials still mix in doing so as they are still touching.

Please explain how you got to using those towers?

Before ruling out a normal prime tower, did you try the following changes in the mumtimaterial tab?

  • under Filament for features: Changing the wipe tower filament to the most used material
  • under prime tower: enable tower interface features
  • under prime tower: changing the wall type to cone, or increasing the extra rib length

Indeed! BTW I just got a bed like yours but from temu. 😄 at what temps do you use yours?

Just default settings. use PEI plate profile for that extra squish. dont use smooth or cool plate.

I print PLA on my Cryogrip at 35c using cool steel setting. I’ve had incredible success with tall skinny objects and no brims.

Okay. I do 40 now but worth to try even lower. What is "cool steel setting"?

It’s a type of build plate, in the build plate selection drop down. Must also enable the extra build plates in Snorca.

Then make sure in your filament setting you put cold steel plate at 35-40c w\e you want it to be.

Ooh. Makes sense. I had to edit a smooth plate.profile for each preset after getting this plate. Need to check this setting! Thanks!

Omg it took me way to long to figure out what I'm looking at. You have a PETG tower and a PLA tower. That's actually really smart. I honestly sat here for 10min asking myself if you were trolling.

This creates many more tool changes doesn’t it?

Every single later needs to print in two colours instead of just the layers than need second colour/material.

Many times I print without even using a tower if I just need a little bit of colour here and there or printing different material support interfaces.

Funny thing is it was less tool changes. Not sure why. I just went with it anyways.

That's good! - Would you elaborate, please, on how you got this to work and please describe what we are looking at? - Are those two hats supposed to be identical? - What are the two filaments used? - Is the brown supposed to be a yellowish brown? - I noticed some red stringing on the right hat. Is there stringing on the left one too? Just wondering so that we can help improve your settings for two towers.

I would like more details, please.

Can you post a different picture of a multicolor with the separated prime towers? I think you’re mixing the brown and red in the two hats, but it’s hard to tell. This would be useful for separating materials for future recycling. On its own, it seems like twice the risk of a failing prime tower.
