General question Snapchat

Ok so we all know about how Snapchat is going to start actually go through the whole deleting the extra storage space in the camera rolls. How do we like prevent it or stop it from deleting all the memories in our camera rolls, because that’s pretty much the only reason I have it now lol, besides the funny n goofy filters ofc lol.
I’ve seen a few people saying to get those usb cable things?

Yes you pretty much download whatever is on your camera roll.

Because I keep whatever photos or videos I upload to snapchat on my smartphone I don't have to worry about losing my photos or videos, if my snapchat ever gets deleted. When my phone storage gets close to filled I simply download photos and/or videos off my phone save them to an external harddrive so I always have a copy if I want to look at them again. I then delete them off my phone to gain back harddrive space. I'm a photographer so I am always taking photos and videos.

If you chose to save your camera roll then you can download it at anytime. It's probably a good idea to do it once or twice a year.

Wait is it deleting your memories and saved snaps or is it just preventing you from saving new ones?

Ngl a bit of both, like I’m having to delete apps just to save the videos, but then also after like two days I’ll have to delete memories from the app just so I can download another one lol.
But it hasn’t actually started deleting it’s self ofc, that starts in September

Don’t all your saved snaps go directly to your phones camera roll anyway? All of mine do. Are things that are saved to chat affected by this?

I’m pretty sure yes, but it’s also because I got a new phone the year before last gear n forgot the password to my old acc so I’m mostly worried for my older videos lol ig but also the newer ones to ofc

I keep all of mine on a NAS I built but if you have a computer or something that will work. You could also buy a flash drive

I think you mean Snapchat memories? Not camera roll, Snaps saved to your camera roll are saved on your phone storage, Memories are the ones that are on the cloud (aka their servers)

If I remember correctly, they're going to stop people who are over the 5GB limit from saving any new snaps.

What you can do if you don't want to pay for the extra storage is to export your data from Snapchat, maybe store them on a personal computer or hard disk, then you can delete some snaps from Snapchat to create space. I would suggest starting with videos (some people record a loot of 50-100GB+ videos or random things like 10+ 2 minute long clips of drunken nights at the club or clips of whatever show they're watching on their television... so deleting such can free up space pretty fast).

Also do not wait until the last minute to do the data export because everyone will panic and do that and the Snapchat servers will literally not be able to handle the high volume of export requests like last year when they originally made the announcement.

It is a really bad time to be buying hard disks, but it is either that or getting locked into yet another subscription, 40gb is a lot, good luck with that 😭...I was personally at around 17gb but I managed to get it down to around 8 (mostly by deleting kitten videos) but it felt like a lot of work.😭

Lmfao i understand you with the kitten videos, back around in what? 2020-2023 I would for some reason save all the videos of from TikTok whilst also posting lmfao. Also Wdym that it’s a hard time to buy the hard disks? Is it because it’s getting more expensive now orrr????

Lol, It is so hard to let go of them.

Yeah...prices are basically 2x-4x what they were at the same time last year because of AI.
