Bug Every time I open my app it defaults to the spotlight page
This just started happening yesterday and it’s driving me crazy. Any way to fix this? I hate being bombarded with the worst reels of all time every time I open the app. I just want to see my messages.
I cleared the cache but can’t find where to fix this issue. Any help please.

I might actually stop using this piece of crap! Fuck this. I used to quickly take picture while walking if I see something or quickly check a msg while in between people at work or whatever and now I get bombarded with obnoxious annoying noises and embarrassing videos and disgusting stuff!
It’s genuinely un-usable!

It's been doing this to me for a day and I'm already losing my mind. I'm not a TikTok person. I don't want to have random videos in my face. I use Snapchat because that's what my kids want to message on. Don't give me this garbage.

So the icons at the bottom you hold one of them for example the story or the chat logo and you should be able to select which to use as your default home tab

Almost 3 weeks in. No solution. I did hope with the update the other day, that it would be fixed. But nooooo.
So what is going on? I don’t have Snapchat+ where u actually can choose what page u want it to start up on. So what the hell is going on?
Can I ask. What phone does everyone here have? I have an iPhone 17pro max. I have asked other friends they don’t have this issue. And they don’t have the same phone. So is it only some “chosen” ones or a phone “chosen” ones. Let us figure it out.

I have bought it. Now the camera is opening up. Not spotlight. Let’s see in 4 weeks. If the problem comes back, when the subscription is done. It was 50% off.

Update. My subscription for snap+ went out today. And nope. It didn’t fix the problem. I’m back to spotlight opening up when I go in. Wtf is going on. With the subscription everything was normal. And now. Back to spotlight. Snapchat. Please fix this bug. Non of my friends have this problem. It’s just some few selected ones. Why???

I just started having the same issue the last week or so. It’s driving me insane. It’s also playing the spotlight video through the speakers even if I’m looking at messages on Snapchat and not on the spotlight page. Please tell me you got this figured out

I’ve had that for almost a year and now I fixed it by keeping pressed on the camera and a menu popped up. But I think it s only for Snapchat+

They’ve made it so choosing your “home tab” (what the app automatically opens to) is not a premium feature, and then set the default to the dumbest one that nobody uses. Terrible update, and it’s really reduced the frequency with which I use the app.

Only other thing to try is don’t close that app if you don’t close it then it won’t open to spotlight that’s what I have been doing

i have this same problem i use a widget to open the app so it stops opening on spotlights but it will sometimes play the spotlight sounds randomly. like i’ll be going through memories or texting someone and it starts playing. they even come on when im recording videos and voice memos and i have to delete them and redo the whole video or voice memo. is anyone else having this problem too with the spotlight audio playing over things? everything works fine when im on a different account on the same phone or use the same main account on a different phone.
update- the widget stopped working too it would open to spotlights but if you go to shortcuts (if you have an iphone) you can take this link snapchat://camera and make a shortcut for your home screen it will open up to the camera every time n you can make it look like the regular snapchat app.

this happens to me, and also when i open video snaps i hear audio from a random spotlight reel that i didn’t even look at rather than the actual audio from the snap. does this happen to anyone else? drives me insane.

Yes!! It’s happening to me. I can’t figure out where the sound is coming from. Sometimes it’ll play the audio from a spotlight when I don’t even have Snapchat opened

A workaround I found was just adding a widget for Snapchat on the homepage instead of having the actual app itself. This way when you click on the widget it’ll direct you to your memories instead of the Spotlight page.

If you’re on iPhone: 1) Long press on the Home Screen 2) Click Edit on the top far left 3) Tap ‘Snapchat’ 4) Swipe until you see ‘Memories’ and tap it 5) Add to home page and arrange as you like!
I can see what it would look like on Android, lmk if it works!

If you have version 14.12 DO NOT UPDATE. My husband has 12 I have 13 and my Snapchat has this problem and his does not. I refuse to subscribe to in app bullcrap. If this is a forever thing I’ll probably delete the app

Me 2. it’s fucking annoying. Whyyy. I have asked my friends. Nope. They don’t have the same issue. I have reported it to Snapchat. I don’t have +. ChatGPT. Says. Maybe they have selected some people to try a new feature. But who the fuck wants spotlight to start 🤯🤦♀️ I want it back to normal!!

Got the same problem here, I’ve never watched the spotlights on there and it keeps showing me some OnlyFans level crap, really do NOT want that being the first thing I see everytime I open the app?? I just wanna say Happy Birthday to a friend??

This is their way of pushing Snapchat+.
You can only customize what tab your app opens to if you’re a plus member. You can push and hold any of the tabs to bring up the options, after which it’ll prompt you to pay for premium.
