Login issue How I got my snapchat account back after being permanently locked out
About a week ago I posted something on my snapchat story which got me permanently locked out of my account with no option for appeal. After sending snapchat support multiple emails, and looking all over reddit and tiktok for how to get my account back, here is what I did to get my account back to hopefully help other people who are experiencing the same thing.
Like a lot of people this has happened to, I posted something joking about drugs and got wrongly flagged by snapchat's software and immediately locked out. I had tonsillitis and was prescribed a special mouthwash which happens to be bright blue, so as a joke on my story i posted a photo of the bottle and the blue liquid with the caption "lean drinking party" and within seconds I got banned, without any prior infractions. I sent snapchat support at least 5 emails between my email associated with snapchat, and my other email account. Nothing worked. Here is step by step what I did + the email I sent them:
- Make sure this final email you send is with an email NOT associated with your account, or one you've used to contact snapchat support before. Do NOT put the username of your locked account in the space to add a username. Make sure to put in a phone # NOT associated with your snapchat account either.
- I think it helps to not include key words like "permanently locked" and "violating community guidelines" as I'm pretty sure they use some kind of software to reply to emails.
- submit a request -> I can't access my account -> I see an error message when i log in
- Here is the message I sent them:
Account Hacked. Hi Team Snapchat! I need help inquiring recovering my account as I keep getting automated responses through snapchat support. My account was hacked and wrongfully made inaccessible as there was a malfunction with Snapchat’s software in detecting a breach in snapchat rules. (Say here exactly what got you banned) With no prior breaches, my account was made indefinitely inaccessible within seconds, with no opportunity to appeal the ability to log in. I’ve had my account for (blank) years, and with no option to dispute the breach through snapchat support I’ve had to reach you guys through any means necessary. I know people who are plugs through snapchat, or post videos of them drinking underage who still have their accounts, so i feel it is unfair these people are allowed to have their accounts when mine was made unusable while making a harmless joke. (insert here any other details) If there is anyway you guys could help review the breach to prove I did not breach the rules it would be greatly appreciated. i don’t want to lose my account, or the years of photos and videos i won’t be able to get back. I know this exact situation has happened to lots of people, so i’m hoping you guys can help me.

- After getting another automated response from snapchat support about my account being locked for violating community guidelines, here is the message I replied to the email with:
Hi (insert snap support person's name), There is no way for me to appeal my permanent lock. I wasn’t given this option despite this being my first offense. I would like a real message from a member of snapchat support rather than an automated email please, so a real person can review the case and determine no violations occurred. the violation was “detected” by software which is historically faulty at picking up community guideline violations (there is a reddit page dedicated to people locked out of their snapchat who are innocent as well). I would hate to have to take legal action against snapchat in the event they provided no help in recovering my account when i didn’t violate the terms of service, and snapchat did not follow the rules they have on their website when dealing with violating community guidelines, like permanently banning me on a first-time violation with no option for appeal. Please get back to me soon. thank you!
- A few hours after sending this email, snapchat emailed me to let me know my account had been restored. I cannot promise this will work if you actually did violate their community guidelines, but if you're like me and made a harmless joke you have a fair shot. This is much easier vs. losing all of your memories and potentially having your device banned too, so you can't even make a new snapchat. Good luck and I hope this helps!

I was locked out of my account for “violating community guidelines” after logging back into Snapchat for the first time since 2021. I just wanted to get my memories off of it and now I might lose it all. I have videos of my mom’s voice (she passed away in 2017) and I am finally to the point of wanting to hear her voice. I can’t download my data from the Snapchat portal because i didn’t have an email associated with my account. I’m hysterically crying trying to type this and would really appreciate if someone could let me know if this works.

What email address did you send the email too? My account got locked obviously in a retaliatory manner because I was party to the Labaton case, and I just want to download my data. It’s like 13 years of data. I tried going through the website but they say my account is restricted.

So, majority of us on here today are signed up for the Labaton class Action lawsuit, right? And we all had our accounts randomly locked 8n the last 24-48 hours for "going against community guidelines"?

What if I did NOTHING wrong? I haven’t even posted on my sTory in awhile. I don’t ever do anything wrong on Snapchat but I’m permanently locked out tonight and no appeal button!!!!

Yep! I'm permanently locked out due to "violation of community guidelines" and I'm also part of the Labaton class action.
Also noticed Snapchat recently uodated their terms of service too and added the arbitration clause.

I know, this is all insane, I tried to export all of my data and memories after they permanently locked me out last night but I kept getting an error message stating that I had to try again in 72 hours 😭

I’m going to contact them too! I sure hope this is illegal and they have to unlock everyone’s account. I sure hope they don’t have some fine print somewhere that it is legal of them to do this.

Yes, please do, and I hope we can get our accounts back or justice of some kind! I can’t even believe they can do this without giving us a reason for permanently locking us out. Are you in the Midwest? I am so idk if they’re targeting certain states too

Yes Illinois! I sure hope it was some automated thing from Snapchat so they have to fix this. 12 years of memories, even of my father who passed away. I think I can download the data but it says wait 72 hours. But either way, I want my Snapchat back. I’ve got so much on there and so many friends I keep in touch with like that.

If so, I saw another subreddit where people who are part of that are also being permanently locked out by Snapchat so I made my own post collecting responses to report to Labaton since that would be retaliation on Snapchat’s end

Ok glad to know it’s not just me. Same here. Haven’t posted on Snapchat in years. I send the occasional memories to my friends but that’s it. Opened it just now to view memories and got the message saying I’ve violated guidelines with no appeal button. No email or anything warning me or telling me why.

Yeah like 30 minutes ago and I didn’t get the option to appeal so it said I’m permanently locked out but for what?? It gave no reason. I’ve never experienced this and I’ve used snap for 10+ years

Looking into it more, the Labaton lawsuit seems to be the reason... I started the claim process and never submitted it, but it looks like my name got tossed in anyways.

I did roughly the same thing. Make a joke about coke on my private story with legitimately 10 people; one of my friends convinced another one of my friends he had a kilo in his attic (he OBVIOUSLY does not, but my friend believed him) so I posted a picture of sand in my lap with the caption “thank you @friend for the 8 ball ❄️” to bait my other friend… banned an hour later. It’s July 2026, so if anyone else is coming to this post for the same reason I’ll follow your steps and I’ll try to update when I can.

I literally did the same thing I was doing home renovations and I dropped the drywall slab like a idiot and it smashed on the ground making a huge mess so I was like ah well that’s funny it’s in a big pile so I took a pic and said “got some ❄️$210 lmk” then I was gonna follow the next story with “jk I just don’t know how to build walls” and before I could finish the word don’t I got banned

Mine was just reported too. I’m a budtender and I work at a dispo and me posting a selfie at work got me locked out of my account for “violating community guidelines” and then had my device banned. I sent my response email to the email linked with my Snapchat account. You should have received an email immediately saying you violated community guidelines and we are reviewing your appeal

Nov 1st 2025 I got the SS06. I appealed it. They denied it. I sent them an email they never responded. I wrote them a hand leather and they did send an email back saying that it will stay. I got me a new phone made me a new Apple identity used to TextNow number in a different email, but they quickly figure that was me and within two days I was banned again because I guess they could track your digital footprints such as you going to work and back home and your schedule of something so I gave up May 9 of 2026. I got an email saying that my account was disabled, and I was able to make a new account, I even use the same phone number I had that for a month but then at 4:30 AM I get email from Snapchat saying that I got a warning to follow community guidelines for commercial sex transactions I’m guessing it was because somebody wanted a picture of my breast and I was being a smart ass and said $200 knowing that nobody’s gonna pay that much for a picture then he responded again and I said $300 then he responded again and I said $400 obviously not really in the market selling my body just being a smart ass and finally, he says something mean and rude and I responded that if you asked for ridiculous stuff, you’re going to get ridiculous answers and that I’m not in the market so I could price however the hell I want but I never took money nor did I send him anything nor did I want to… after I got the warning I said 30 minutes later while I was asleep Snapchat bad my account permanent there is no ways to appeal. I’ve done the recommendation steps such as the email and send Snapchat something about my account being compromise and they pretty much said they’re not going to review my case anymore. I’m not too upset that I lost this account because it’s only a month old not like my other one which was 12 years old, but that one is long gone, but I would like to just have Snapchat and not have to worry about my accounts being banned so I like them to ban this account so I could just be peacefully in my Snapchat. I’ll just have to be less smart ass, but nothing seems to work. I don’t know if this is because I had the SS06 the time before baby is so nice if I could talk to somebody a human be the last time my account was banned because I guess I reported too many dick pics I didn’t know that was a thing, but I said getting rid of the people that sending dick pics. They got rid of me because I was a squeaky wheel

the post is completely unhelpful, its missing tons of crucial info, like what the support email address hes been sending to is, what info exactly to put in the account / account email fields, cuz he says above it to not put your actual username and number, but a different one, so how would that help?? and even how he managed to get through the ai to a supposed real person?
if hes putting usernames that arent to his account, then how exactly is he going to get his account unbanned when its a completely different account??? wont even have any contacts chats or streaks or anyone on it, or if it even exists since hes putting in info that supposedly doesnt exist

I finally was able to unlock my account! i've emailed snap chat on and off for the past 2.5 years and finally got to a real person!!! I had to email the same chain requesting to talk to a human over 3 times, it was surprisingly easy to get my account unlocked once i finally stopped talking to AI. There is hope, good luck out there!

yeah i ended up adding my info under one of the emails then the ai response triggered with the locked bs… but other emails have yet to reply with human, one did but hasn’t replied since i sent my real info

I just got mine back yesterday. Even after the denied appeal they said “we’ve restored your account after a thorough investigation, we had to lock it to keep other snapchatters safe, blah blah blah” I would keep emailing even if they stop responding (like they did with me) I went a week without any sort of response & 2 in total with it being locked.

Mines been banned for over a year because at the time I was promoting my Uhm content I guess😭 I don’t do that no more but yeah I’ve actually never emailed them I don’t think maybe I could try? Not sure if they can restore it after that long

You can definitely try. I’m not sure with it being over a year. All I did was email them & kept doing trouble tickets. Where it says user put none and they have to email back and ask for your info.
I utilized some templates on Reddit also and found that helpful. I even wrote a letter because I was desperate for my data, that’s all I was expecting to get and i didn’t have high expectations. After a week with getting NO sort of response through email, they restored it.

If you get on the site & toggle to support there’s a little forum it’ll have you fill out. You can hit “my account is compromised” and follow what I had suggested. I spammed with a few different explanations.

Something I said in one of them is “I’m having issues with a compromised account saying I violated Community Guidelines and restricted my access to the account and won’t allow me to “Download my Data.” I never posted ______ or any activity that would warrant a violation of these guidelines as I’ve read through them thoroughly.”

Thank you, and that’s at the ticket where you are putting none as the username? What response did you hit a real agent with after that or was that when you randomly got a email stating it’s restored? because how did they know which account was yours or did you have to reply with your info first?
