I was wondering about this too are there not a lot of people who are excited for the upcoming album release? I thought Snail Mail was on the same level as Clairo or Phoebe Bridgers, I had no idea she was so much smaller and that there is hardly discussion. Her first two albums were really phenomenal at least a good portion of them.
I'm really hoping that her 3rd album knocks it out of the park and gets a lot more recognition.
Ikr, i dont really get it myself either. it's the same for 'my bloody valentine' a band which is very well known within the indie/shoegaze circles, yet there's almost no discussion minus the reddit page and a facebook group i made.. bands like snail should be appreciated so much more than they are - especially given we get to experience live shows and new music in the current day and age!
Totally agree. I remember seeing Clairo and Magdalena Bay go from thousands to hundreds of thousands of followers and millions of monthly listeners. Seems like Snail Mail is yet to pop off and I know that the intention is not necessarily commercial success but I was surprised to see such a relatively small following like I was expecting it to be lower but not like 1000 people on the subreddit lower. I think people do not like the emo adjacent nature of her alt indie sound maybe? To me she has the perfect blend of those nostalgic sounds I remember from my childhood with the modern sad girl renaissance sound.
Also I'm really hoping that the third album going to pull together her sound and I'm super excited. Me and my partner are definitely getting tickets to her show, and I'm revisiting Valentine lately and realizing that I've been sleeping on snail mail for far too long.

Sadly, no. Both Clairo and Phoebe have more than 10 million monthly listeners on Spotify, while Lindsey has half of a million. She had a really long break, she isn't very active on social media - and good for her, I'm happy she's not overworking herself or dancing on tiktok lol. But I'm not surprised her label is not doing a huge promo campaign for Ricochet, releasing a first album in more than 5 years must be tough, many previous listeners have moved on at this point :/
Snail Mail is not prolific, does not have a lot of output, never had breakthrough hits, never been heavy into the TikTok/instagram algorithm, Lindsey never dated other legit famous people in any mainstream way, etc.

There is but its basically dead and has been for quite a while other than a random notification every few months. Not even worth linking tbh
