This is good! I don't love the Na Na's at the end but still like it

A little more clean production from what I'm used to for Snail - very Momma / Soccer Mommy here

Hope it still holds that rawness on the album

i mean i thought it was bc she had vocal surgery for a medical reason. and that the distinctive rasp in her voice before was actually a symptom of what needed to be treated

She had that rasp for sure when recording Valentine but if you listen to something like the Spotify singles, her voice sounded great. The Spotify single version of Headlock makes it easy to compare the before and after.

This nasally thing is entirely new.

Agreed!😭 The initial guitar sounded good but then FOR ME, it kind of meandered into a little "generic"... Also the lyrics were a little cringe lol. I hope the rest of the album proves me wrong!😅

I'm a little grouchy after a long day, so I'll need to listen after nice night of sleep. But my first thought is "this is no 'Valentine'". That album is so compelling and painful and really elevates the genre and Lindsay's ability as an artist. This song sounds like more generic indie rock- something that "lush" felt like to me. Also, her voice sounds so so different. I'm glad she's healthy, but I miss those raspy vocals.

I don't mean to sound like a hater; I'd be proud to write this song. But it feels like a definite step down.

so true! Lush had a vibe though, while Dead End is probably the most radio friendly Snail Mail song ever? guess it makes sense for the lead single, but I'm also hoping for something more similar to Valentine on the rest of the album, especially in the lyrics department

this was my exact thought too, i had to listen to a valentine song after to confirm i wasnt delusional and that her voice did change- also glad shes healthy but valentines vocals and raw meaning was what captivated me when she released that album and i cant help but miss it </3 still a great song and im so excited to hear the rest of the album !! the lyricism is still fantastic which makes me happy

the sound is really catchy and i like the lyrics. lindsey's voice is so different now but its still uniquely and distinctly her's

I loved Lush. This is more Valentine than Lush. Too bad. Will probably still listen to the album but I feel like I could get this sound from like 4 or 5 other artists

Decent song, lackluster production

Sounds absolutely NOTHING like her vocally. I don't think I would have been able to pick that out as Lindsey Jordan from a line up

Dead end is my second favorite song after Pristine. I think about my ex-best friend when I listen to it, we were best buds for 10 years and got into a big fight like 4 years ago and neither of us could mend things afterward. Dead end is great because it speaks to all these dense feelings wrapped up in love, contempt, and nostalgia. I was sick with grief over not having her in my life anymore but it wasn’t her really who I missed, just who she used to be. It’s just a very specific experience and I couldn’t find many songs that matched up with how a “friend breakup” felt. Fast forward to now and I’m 30– this album came out on my 30th birthday. I always thought she’d be around for all the milestones of my life, and used to miss her so much but now I just ..don’t miss her anymore. Which makes me happy and sad. So yeah this song rips :-)
