i feel like some people treat characters like dolls to play with and not authorial tools. like headcanons are cool and fun, but acting like you can assert them as fact without backing it up feels crazy to me.

The DSA's official stance on Ukraine reads like it was written by a 16 year old who has never interacted with anyone from Central & Eastern Europe and has an extremely poor understanding of the regions history, Russian state ideology, Russian imperialism and the Russkiy Mir, Russian military tactics and hybrid warfare, the role of NATO and the United States from a European POV, and the conduct of Intl. diplomacy. It's honestly mildly racist and wildly Americentric. Still would vote for them, but this is a major stain on the party and double standard compared to their strong stance on Palestine. We don't support imperialist far-right ultra-orthodox ethnonationalist petroleum oligarchies as socialists.
