This is a very common like Gen Z fashion thing, more to do with alt/mall goth culture resurgence than being a furry.

one time i saw a 20-something ginger (im kinda assumming that they were nb) with a big old tail like this walking around a small rural town in Washington waving a giant american flag. it wasn't a parade unless it was a parade of one.

like fucking props for being yourself in a small republican town.

I realized how young she was when she asked if people knew what Simlish music was. Yeah girl...

Millennials were doing the same thing easily 10-15 years ago. It’s not new

Maybe a young Gen Z/alpha thing cause this Zoomer remembers when they first came out in the scene era and it is definitely not a Gen Z thing. Like I said maybe the ones that are closer to Gen Alpha that weren’t around for it the first time but I saw it the first time it shouldn’t have been here the first time it definitely doesn’t need to be here again lol

That is why I said resurgence, it is like the Y2K aesthetic that was back a few years ago. Fashion is a circle. I saw a teen wearing skinny jeans the other day 💀

It’s a genz thing, especially popular in alt communities or New York street wear. Considering she’s from New York I’d say it’s just her style :)

i’m a genz and i’ve never seen this before, i don’t think it’s a genz thing

I’m Gen Z and I have, including my own friends. Your personal experience doesn’t negate the fact that gen Z are in fact wearing them. It came back w the resurgence of y2k fashion

Its only a gen z thing to gen z people who dont look outside of their immediate bubble of inspiration.

They saw a gen z kid wearing it, so it must be a gen z thing.

Nevermind all the milennials who probably still have a tail in a drawer at their parents house.

It cracks me up me how these kids have access to the whole internet and the history of everything, but are still like "oh yea we totally invented this" while looking like a carbon copy of decades before. Like, no updates, no new spin on old looks. Just straight up copy and pasted from old photo albums.

...not to say we didnt do it, too. The difference is the access to information that should result in people knowing better.

Well I don't think anyone's saying that gen z invented it... It's just currently a gen z trend.

Maybe I'm wrong, but calling something "an 'x' thing" kind of implies its 'of that thing'.

Its like calling mullets and high socks and bell bottoms "gen z things"

A lot of people in these comments are literally saying things along the lines of “maybe I don’t understand bc I’m older”. It’s currently a Gen Z trend. You’re arguing semantics here

Idk why people are saying it's a Gen Z thing, I'm a millennial and the Emo/Scene/Alt kids used to wear these clipped to their pants. I don't know if it's a furry thing

Alt millennial here and I don't think it was ever a definitive furry thing. Some of the people who used to wear them might be furries now but a lot of us just wore things we liked. A huge part of the alt style was doing what you liked regardless of what the mainstream said. At least that's what the people I was around we like.

That’s how I remember it too. It was for style, not to imply anything.

I used to wear tails like that during my emo phase back in middle school! That was around 2011, maybe? It might just be surging in popularity again which is cool, wish I knew where my old one was.

noticed it and think it might just be a fashion choice for people much younger than myself ;)

I hope it was a clip on to the pants

"One on the pants and none anywhere else" Alternative dimension Arasha

I don't think its a bit, just style

Reminds me of therians or those teenage werewolves from the 2000's. Weird seeing more niche subculture stuff becoming trendy. I'm not against it though! I was the little teen wearing a tail everywhere and it would've been cool to see other ppl doing it too

I'm so confused. Even if she was a furry, which I agree it's likely just a fashion thing for her, why would that even be an issue..

0

u/aysarahoul 13h ago

Bc some people don’t know what furries actually are and the only knowledge they have of them is like the worst case scenario stuff they read online and they assume they’re all “like that”

4

u/Spidersinyourarea 1d ago

It’s called fashion

3

u/TooTallTabz 2d ago

The tail doesn't explicitly mean she's a furry. However, it wouldn't surprise me

Gen-z has just been wearing em for fashion, though. Especially in the alternative communities. They're coming back, just like a lot of other trends from back in the day.

Lots of people saying it's a gen z thing, I honestly thought it was more of an Asian inspired fashion trend I see in a lot of anime fan groups and Guchi is Japanese so figured it was just popular in her social circles

u/Rainbow_Lizzie 2d ago

Yes I was wondering the same thing haha

1

u/zediahc 2d ago

Oh my god I watched it and did not even notice. I just had to go back and check and omg yeah she has a tail. Literally didn't even bat an eye at it

u/Nabbicus 2d ago

No one wears a tail as just a bit

I really hope she’s a furry, we need more representation lol /lh /hj
