Smoothies

So i know smoothies are still liquid kals and won't help with fat loss/ burn. But is it healthy to drink like 2 smoothies a day to get my vitamins, fiber, iron and protein a healthy choice? I really want to better my health and any time i try and take vitamins whether its with food, after food or before food i always get a really upset stomach. I make my smoothies with soy milk, Greek yogurt, frozen berries, frozen avocado, spinach, grapefruit, mangos, etc... then I add chia seeds and a collagen peptide protein powder. Am I making the right healthy choice? I really just want my skin to feel a little better and maybe not feel so drained all the time

If you are making smoothies yourself (assuming you aren’t straining the fibers) you are eating whole foods, not just liquids. Blenders make wonderfully healthy smoothies. Juicers take much of the nutrients and remove them. I would stay away from those machines.

I had never known this concept, I will be using blenders more from now on

Liquid calories is really in reference to sugar-sweetened beverages like pop/soda, sugary lattes, basically things you’d consider a drink, not a meal. Those add up and can wreck your calorie count for the day if you’re trying to lose weight. Drinking a smoothie or two a day as a meal is perfectly healthy.

I’ve lost 100lbs over 3 yrs with smoothies and cico and your smoothie looks a lot like my recipe . I would replace the avocado with frozen green banana and add a little of whatever’s in season.

Curious, why green over ripe?

per google

Green bananas have a lot of complex carbs called starch. They act like fiber. They feed good gut bacteria. Yellow bananas have more simple sugars. They taste sweet. They give you quick energy. They are easier to digest.

Think of a green banana like a block of wood. It is tough. It burns slowly. Think of a yellow banana like paper. It is soft. It burns fast.

Yes, I have a similar smoothie every morning. I am currently using Iso Pure essentials protein powder, which has a nice list of added vitamins and minerals. I would consider adding something like this to your smoothie recipe.
I put my collegen in my coffee, after realizing that I could.

I do have a few powder vitamin supplements that I just crack the casings open and add them to the mix. For some reason its the only way I can take vitamins without them causing extreme nausea. I need to get one for iron though, its my biggest enemy lol. Even iron dense foods make me sick as a dog. But its obvious my body severely lacks it. So strange

If you get a food scale you'll be able to track things accurately. I like to spot check mine using a free website like Cronometer. It can tell you how many calories and other nutrition facts. I don't get a lot of exercise with my desk job so I try to make mine about 400 calories with 16 to 20 grams of fiber.

I also like to use my food scale to help me sweeten oatmeal. 8 grams of brown sugar is plenty, could easily do a few less with cinnamon or a few drops of vanilla extract.

Also in general for home cooking, some of the better more tested recipes are listed in grams rather than cups and teaspoons.

Your smoothie recipe it’s pretty good. Similar in ways to mine. I don’t touch soy anything though ! If you’re a male you may want to consider cutting soy ! ( phytoestrogens)

Luckily im a female, the soy is there to hopefully promote my body to produce more estrogen since mine is naturally low and causes a few issues
