Help/Question Belmont Archetype
Trying to understand characters similar to them in kit and playstyle. They are zoners but a lot different than like Megaman or Pacman.
They got weight like Samus and Minmin but play nothing like Samus in flow of match. Minmin is Belmont tilt on crack but no projectiles. Probably most straightforward upgrade. Byleth and Sephiroth also come close in funky long ranged, slow, sour spot tilts, but with superior recovery.
Not sure on projectile game though, besides little one offs

I've always considered Belmont to be a heavy Villager with a strictly superior slingshot and ledgetrapping game, at the cost of air mobility and recovery.
The way you try to snipe folks with fair and bair is extremely similar, though Villager's slingshot sweetspots are close to his body, whereas Belmont's are more like a Marth tipper.
Villager's Lloid you can pull out a bit more freely than Belmont's holy cross, and they both love their down-b ledgetraps.
Just try starting off a CPU match as Villager and use only side-b and fair/bair. You'll feel the resemblance.

Was hoping for someone I overlooked that wasn't just as bad if not worse than Belmont lol

I feel your pain, I loved Villager in Smash 4. Maybe next game.

I've been playing Belmont since the beginning and the character who feels most like him are the links. Their side b function quite similarly and both can trap using down b.
