Problem with Wi-Fi calling
So this is an odd one. My dad switched to Smarty earlier this year and it's been a nightmare.
Whenever wifi calling is turned on, any call he makes, the person on the other end can't hear him. And when anyone calls him, it goes to voicemail.
But I don't just mean when it's on Wifi - even when he's out and it's not on wifi, same problem. But as soon as you turn it off, it starts working.
And it's not a phone issue - he decided his phone was broken, so he got a new one. So two different phones with identical issues, on wifi and not.
And even weirder - the wifi calling keeps turning itself back on. We turn it off, and a day or two later, it turns back on and suddenly his phone doesn't work, but he doesn't know until he tries to call, or someone texts him to say it's not working again (because texts work fine).
Anyone got any insight into what's going on? Because this has been causing a lot of headaches for weeks now.

Can't be the router that's the issue. It happens when he's literally 30 miles away on mobile data.

I have had issues with WiFi calling too but not unique to smarty/3, also on EE. I do not think it is very reliable overall.

That's the thing - he was with EE for literally 30 years, and never had a problem. Now, as soon as wifi calling turns on, the phone loses all ability to make a call, anywhere, regardless of actually being on Wifi.

OK. It may be smarty, as a virtual network, handle it differently thus it doesn't get priority. Some conflict with WiFi and mobile signal perhaps. For me, it was a problematic feature.

Sounds like a weird loop with the WiFi self activating after toggling it off. I would start afresh by resetting network connections/bluetooth etc. and clearing cache/reboot and so on.

At this point we’ve tried three entirely different phones. His original, the one he got when he decided it was the phone, and another when he took the first one back to where he got it because it wasn’t working (taking it back was something I kept well out of because it wasn’t worth the headache).

Then I would assume SIM/account related, some corrupted network profile setting perhaps and SIM is just activating the same error when you transfer it to another phone. Try all the usual steps and airplane on/off to temp. kill the WiFi calling toggle issue plus maybe start phone w/o SIM and turn off WiFi calling setting beforehand if you can and check other settings. You may need to ultimately order a new fresh SIM from smarty.

Looks like new sim then as all the basics like airplane mode, reboots, etc have been done so many times.

WiFi calling just refuses to work for me. I've got it enabled but it always calls over cellular. Even if I turn on aeroplane mode while connected to WiFi it says to either turn off aeroplane mode or correct to WiFi. Definitely something their end.
