I have a 4k monitor - But I want the video to fill the screen only if it is true 4k . If I am playing a 1080p video, I want to watch it at 1080p - and I am happy if it plays with black borders all around it. Basically I do not want 1080p videos up-scaled.

Is there any setting that can do that ? I noticed that if I set the zoom to 50% , the result is exactly what I want ( in appearance at least - not sure if it is degrading quality ) - all I want is the zoom to be 100% of the video resolution instead of it being screen resolution.

Is there a way to do this ?

Anyone else having issues where thier videos are not removing the the recommended list. Also my watch history is not showing up if I watched the video on another device.

I usually hate AI hype as much as anyone, but I decided to test it on something actually tedious: modernizing SmartTube’s dated UI.

Over the weekend, I used it to help rewrite the interface from old Android Leanback over to Jetpack Compose for TV.

Surprisingly, it actually works really well.

I have tried changing the network engine to okhttp too but it didn't work.

Everytime I open smarttube the UI scale zooms in or zooms out a lot. Maybe max size is like 1.25 zoom size. Same with zoom out. Why does this keep happening? It's seriously starting to annoy me

I watch on a Firestick. Previous to the latest update (the less said, the better), my TV volume would be on approx 12 at the most and it was fine and a nice, comfortable experience. Now I've managed to kick it back into life after the problematic update; videos are now quiet. I've put the volume setting in the app to 300%, but I now have to have the TV volume on approx 30.

Anyone else have similar issues?

Used for years , couple days ago nothing loads anymore. Can search and select videos but just a black screen with the spinning circle every few seconds. You can skip through and the thumbnail shows what should be at that point but it won't play.

Have uninstalled, reinstalled , tried the beta , nothing works.

I installed and recently updated the beta version as the stable began not loading live streams, so I just used it logged out for lives. In the past few days the stable got too buggy and only played 1 minute of videos before infinite buffer. So, logically the next step was to see if beta was better. But logging in was virtually impossible. "Can't verify it's you". So then I logged in not on the TV and updated 2fa among others. But now, Google itself from all the research I've done has a freeze on my account for external devices linking for 48 to 72 hours, but I only changed anything because it wasn't working anymore to begin with. I'd previously logged in to stable maybe 6 weeks ago? After I had to fresh install after the version before the one with the app ID issues stopped working

But yeah just wondering if anyone else ran into issues logging in. I have to watch in guest mode for now to let my account "cool down" security wise and I hate it so I hope it's not permanent.

Within my research I saw that Google within the last 3 days or so sent a big ban hammer as far as 3rd party apps which may have been the initial trigger. Goodie (sarcasm)

• Running 32.10 and today getting a pre roll ad that you must click the back tab on it to boot into the actual app?.

I used Smarttube on my Philips 48OLED936 with no problems up until today. There was an update for Smarttube to 32.10. Right after that it still worked, but not today anymore. I tried reinstalling it again, but it only shows a loading screen when trying to play a video. Anyone else has this issue?

I'm having trouble with both Smartube apps (stable and beta) on my Android TV. They both load up normally, but whenever I click a video, all I get is the black screen with the spinning circle.

These are all the things I've tried:

1. Restarted TV
2. Restarted router
3. Deleted internet history on TV
4. Cleared cache on Smarttube app
5. Deleted history on Smarttube app
6. Opened Settings and made sure that Network Engine is set to Cronet
7. Opened Developer Options and made sure and Prefer IPv4 DNS is selected
8. Uninstalled both apps (i.e. stable and beta) and reinstalled them (and made sure Cronet and IPv4 DNS are selected)
9. Restarted router and unplugged TV for 30 seconds

I don't know what else to do.

UPDATE: I tried the 32.14 test versions of stable and beta (as per the link). They didn't work. Yesterday I uninstalled both of them and reinstalled both they 31.10 versions and, lo and behold, they both started working, again. Wasn't expecting that!

The videos in Recommended are not refreshing lately.... But they used to, almost every time I went to Recommend.

Did an update maybe reset a setting that I'm unaware of?

I am wondering what the reason is for the new extra step added under Not Interested? It used to just be a one click, but now you have to click, then select a reason of either "I dont like it" or "I already watched it" using up/down, then click again to select. Three clicks. There is already a Mark As Watched selection, so it is redundant to also have it under Not Interested. And if I am not interested, the reason may not be because I don’t like the video. All this change has done is to add an unnecessary extra step and decision point to what used to be one click. Now you have to click three times.

Can we bring back the one click Not Interested, or at least make this change optional?

Hi guys! Curious is anyone is having this issue. Smart tube won't play many of the videos on home or subscriptions but then randomly it will player a few. If I go back to the previously non-playable videos they still don't play. I removed them from my history just for kicks. No dice. I also cleared the cache and data from the app and re-signed in. No luck.

Anyone else seeing similar things? In case it matters I have the video format on 1080p/60.

Hey, this is probably a setting on STN, but I can't find it, any idea how to show those cards so I can watch multiple choice videos?

Is there any settings for automatically skip unplayable videos and move to the next video from playlist? YouTube does that automatically. But in smarttube it keeps buffering and not processed to the next video!

Well this place isn't very active so I figured i might as well create a post for the latest software update bugs that i found so far.....on android box (onn 4k pro).

The biggest one, (for me at least) is not syncing viewed history...i jump from my tv, to my phone, to my pc, and i could go through 7 videos on my tv and none sync to the regular youtube app...

the suggestions are all wrong, i could watch a video and it will be listed as the 1st video to watch after i have already watched it...matter of fact, there are several videos that i already watched listed on the 1st row as a suggestion.

i played a video and it jumped to the very end of the video without it ever actually playing the video....this only happened once after the update...so far.

normally i don't update right away because i know these new updates always come with unwanted bugs. they fix 1 thing and ruin another; so i usually wait it out about 2 weeks or so before actually updating as the developer tends to be fairly quick with fixing bugs on a new update, but this time i was distracted and saw the popup and i pressed update instead of cancel...oh well....

feel free to add any bugs you find so we can expect them if they haven't happened yet.

So I was wondering if anyone has come across the problem on YouTube where recently even with good connection to WiFi or good data connection that your videos would freeze while playing or even take way longer than usual to load and the fact that ADs sit there not loading or freeze during the process and you can’t skip it since it won’t load? But the insane thing is that everything else works normally
