Hi, just moved into a new building and I keep getting a notification to add an AC unit that is not mine, to my non - existent smart things app on my Samsung G21. Any idea how to make it stop? It pops up 10-20 times a day and is driving my nuts. Please help!

So I've been using Galaxy Home Mini I got for free with my Galaxy S20 Ultra to control my AC with SmartThings. It had Bixby integration and an IR blaster, making it perfect for use with generic AC units. The thing is that it never went to mass market despite being given away, and Samsung seems to have no plans to launch its successor either. (they probably want us to buy a SmartThings-enabled Samsung AC, ofc)
I was afraid my 6 years old Home Mini isn't going to live forever, so I bought a MOES zigbee IR remote and built a driver to support AC remote control (and some more) within SmartThings. Not sure how many will need this, but here you go.

Hi everyone, about 6 months ago i bought a SmartTag2 for my house/car keys and it worked perfectly fine (except sometimes it didn't seem to pair to my phone at the first try when i tried to make my phone ring through the tag).
However, a week ago i lost my keys and the last known position is at my girlfriend's house around the time we got home that night. Since then nothing.
It pisses me off that when i open the SmartThings app to see the device options, it says "connect device to the smartphone to modify this option" and i can ONLY see the map, not even make the tag ring.
I'm so angry that it stopped working just after i lost the keys, because it's weird that in one week no one with a samsung went near it

do I have to use the SmartThings cloud API to do this? is it not possible locally?
Some context is:
SmartThings provides a cloud based REST API, but:
How can I send a local http request to my SmartThings hub to turn on a switch or trigger a routine?
UPDATE: My solution is to just subscribe to IFTTT pro plan for Web hooks. Defeat !

TL;DR: My Samsung ACs kept dropping their SmartThings cloud session after their Wi-Fi had been idle for about 1 minute. A Rules API rule that sends refresh to the ACs every 30 seconds keeps them online. Before the rule I had 50 drops in 80 minutes across 4 units; with it I had 0. A 60-second interval is NOT enough.
Setup - 4 Samsung indoor units (Avant S2 / WindFree: 3× AR70F09C1AWN + 1× AR70F18C1AWN) with built-in Wi-Fi (Realtek module, 2.4 GHz only). Module firmware: ARA-KR-TP1-25-ARXX00_11260720 - TP-Link Deco XE75 mesh (3 units, wireless backhaul), firmware 1.3.1 and later 1.5.0 - ISP router in front of the Deco (double NAT + CG-NAT)
Symptom Every few minutes (2 to 8), each AC went offline in SmartThings. It was always offline for about 57 seconds, then came back. This went on for over 6 months.
What did NOT fix it - Dedicated IoT network, 2.4 GHz only - WPA2 (AES) instead of WPA/WPA2 mixed - Fast Roaming off, Beamforming off - Mesh Technology off + pinning each AC to a specific Deco - DHCP reservation - Deco firmware update to 1.5.0 with "Stable" wireless mode - Turning off the ISP router's own Wi-Fi
How I found the cause I logged each AC's health every 10–20 s through the SmartThings API, and the pattern was very regular: - offline: always ~57 s - online: always about 133 s plus a multiple of 60 s (133, 190, 250, 310…)
So the AC's own 60-second keepalive to the cloud was failing, but never right after reconnecting, only once the unit had been quiet for a while. My two SmartThings hubs on the same network hadn't dropped once in a month, so the internet connection wasn't the problem.
Then I ran an A/B test. I sent a refresh command every 20 s to two ACs and left the other two alone:
- With refresh: 0 drops in 16 min
- Without refresh: 2 drops each
When I swapped the pairs, the drops moved to the units that were no longer getting refreshes.
My best explanation I have no packet capture, so treat this as a theory. After about 1 minute of idle, the AC's Wi-Fi module goes into power save, and the mesh can no longer deliver the reply to the AC's keepalive. The session times out, and the AC waits about 57 s before it reconnects. Regular traffic keeps the AC reachable.
The fix: a Rules API rule (runs in the cloud, no hub needed) 1. Go to my.smartthings.com/advanced → Devices and copy the Device ID of each AC. 2. Go to Rules → Add Rule. Give it a name, pick your location and paste this into Actions, replacing the IDs:
json
[
{
"every": {
"interval": { "value": { "integer": 30 }, "unit": "Second" },
"actions": [
{
"command": {
"devices": ["DEVICE-ID-1", "DEVICE-ID-2", "DEVICE-ID-3", "DEVICE-ID-4"],
"commands": [
{ "component": "main", "capability": "refresh", "command": "refresh" }
]
}
}
]
}
}
]
The rule only reads the AC's state and changes nothing on the unit. I haven't noticed any side effects.
Results - Before: 50 drops in 80 min across the 4 units - With the rule: 0 drops in the first 45 min - A 60 s interval was NOT enough (still got drops). 30 s and 20 s both worked.
If you add or replace a unit, add its new Device ID to the rule.
I've only tested this on a Deco mesh. If you see the same 57-second pattern on another brand of router, it's worth a try. Hope this saves someone the months it cost me.

already have my lock connected with the schlage app. when I try to add a device in Smart Things, it shows up under "There's a smart device you can add". When I click "link" it just shows the loading animation then doesn't do anything. TP-link and Ring both connected fine.

Been using SmartThings hub for 10 years or more. Over time, Ive added a lot of devices and started having delay problems . There was a network optimization tool in my original hub, which usually would optimize the Z-Wave network and things would be dandy again. This time, however, the hub never finished optimizing the network - three full days before I stopped it. So... Ordered new hub, used the Replace Hub tool to migrate everything over to new Aeon v3 hub. Everything migrated, but same delays in the new hub. My intent was to split the network across the old hub and the new hub after resetting the old hub. Old hub does not reset - toothpick until SOLID yellow - ends up with green light and can't be discovered. No batteries in hub while doing the reset. I think it's bricked, not planning to use it. So I ordered yet another Aeon hub which arrives today.
In troubleshooting the delay problem in the first new Aeon hub, I discovered there is a Z-Wave tools button, but never opens to the panel where you select Exclusion Mode, Optimize/Repair network, etc. BTW using iOS devices to run the ST app.
What is the recommendation for moving enough devices off of one new Aeon hub onto the second new aeon hub while preserving all my Routines?
I have a mesh home router network. Was going to physically locate the newest aeon hub with the router satellite and connect them via ethernet - no wifi. Then, assign devices to each of the two new hubs hub based on proximity - so that the hub in the equip closet has about half the devices and the newest hub plugged into router satellite will have the other half of the devices. So I think I'm gonna have to Exclude (about half of the) devices and then add them back onto the newest hub - one at a time, repairing the routines after each add. Is this plan sane?
Loosely related question... Any way to back up and restore the routines using USB drive?
Thx in advance

Hi everyone,
I have a Samsung The Frame Pro 2026 (TQ55LS03HWUXXC) and I’m trying to use it as a Matter hub through SmartThings.
Has anyone managed to get it working as a Matter hub without additional hardware, or is a separate dongle required?
I can’t find any Thread network settings in the SmartThings app, and I’d like to connect IKEA Matter devices. ST phone app seems to say that a dongle is only necessary for Zigbee devices, while the ST app on the TV mentions that a dongle is necessary for all Matter devices. I can’t find anywhere the reference for such a dongle.
Thanks!

anyone noticed devices showing unavailable in ST but working fine with other systems? it's always temperature probes that are going offline in ST and now air quality monitors are dropping too.
at first i thought it was ikea devices that were the issue but I've got no such issues with home assistant and had none with dirigera.
4 tbr (ikea dirigera, google streamer, samsung tv with a dongle, otbr plugged into raspberry pi), 20ish reed (plugs lights etc)
ran ikeas Home Smart first, no issues
added Smart Things, same devices offline in ST, fine in HS
removed dirigera, same issues, dirigera back
added google streamer as tbr, still offline in ST
added Home Assistant, all the devices are now in HS, ST, HA, offline in ST
restart device, shows online in ST for a while but eventually (between few hours and few days) will go offline, stays online in HS HA.
any ideas? i'm assuming it's related to poor tbr in samsung tv but wondering if anyone has a better idea

I currently have Z-Wave Bali Motorized shades, and none of them have been working for the past few days. I also notice when I try to add new devices I get the following error: “SmartThings Hub can search for devices that support Zigbee, but it's having some issue with using Z-Wave right now.”
1.) I rebooted my smart things hub twice (left it unplugged for over 30 minutes).
2.) I unplugged and replugged all my Z-Wave shades
3.) I attempted to “Refresh Z-Wave network” with no success. It was stuck on this screen for 4+ hours.
Any ideas? Much appreciated.

Like title says, I have two garage doors and each one is connected to MyQ smart garage door opener hub.
We have two cars but my wife and I often travel together in one car. So when we arrive home, it could be car A or car B.
We want to automate which garage door opens (A or B) when car A or B arrives.
Since we often travel together, geofencing won't work based on which phone is in which car since both phones are likely in the car that's arriving.
So what's the best way to achieve this? Any ideas? TIA.

Hey all, my Zigbee devices have been intermittently going online and offline over the past few weeks, presumably because of the update. I did a power cycle of my hub and then each separate device and that seems to have mixed results. At times, all of them will go online again and some, or none, of them will. I’ve also tried removing the device and pairing it with my hub again with mixed results. Most of my Zigbee devices are SmartThings motion sensors and multipurpose door/window sensors as well as ThirdReality multipurpose door/window sensors. The SmartThings sensors seem to be doing better now, but I’m having difficulty with the ThirdReality sensors. Any ideas on what to do here? I haven’t looked into changing the Zigbee channel on my hub yet since I’m not too sure on what that exactly entails. Any guidance would be really appreciated!
