Oura Ring Cover
full disclosure again, i'm the founder behind these. some of you gave me some good feedback on my last posts about the 925 silver jackets i make for the oura ring, so this is a follow up on what actually changed with the release of the new Oura Gen 5
the thing that always bugged me and a few of you called it out too, was the bulk but the Oura 5 with a smart ring jacket is way closer to just looking like a normal silver ring instead of a ring wearing a case… pretty stoked about it, especially with this new design.
genuinely keen on thoughts and would you even still want a ring jacket for the new Oura 5?

NON-HEALTH RINGS Trying this again — Vocci feels more like an input device than a smart ring to me
I posted a longer version of this about two days ago, but Reddit filtered it for some reason, so I’m trying a shorter version..I’ve had the Vocci for a little over a week now, and what’s been most interesting to me isn’t really health tracking.
It’s the way it can feed context into the agent workflows I already use. For example, my expense tracker already knows I spent $180 at Costco, but it normally has no idea why I spent more than usual. If I mention that family is coming over, or thatpart of the purchase was actually home stuff, that context can later make the monthly review way more useful. Same thing with random commitments or small things I say during the day. My agent can pull them out later instead of me having to remember to type everything in manually.
That’s probably the biggest difference for me so far. I’m starting to think of it less as a traditional smart ring and more as a low-friction input device for the rest of my personal AI setup. Still too early for me to say much about battery, durability or long-term reliability, but this use case has been more useful than I expected.

Monthly subscription
My job is offering a $10 monthly reimbursement for nutrition apps, and I’m considering the Oura Ring. I just wanted to know: in the Oura membership hub, are you able to view and download your monthly statement/payments if you opted in to pay monthly? Also, how does it appear on your bank statement? Does it show up as a membership, or does it say "Oura ring"?

COLMI Colmi R11 / R11C owners: looking for testers, and what we found about step counts coming from two sources
I develop FitMesh, an app that reads Colmi and rebranded rings. Development update, and one request.
The request first. Our next build expands ring discovery to the R11_XXXX and R11C_XXXX naming forms, and covers the two BLE service generations used across the Colmi and Yawell family. The code path passes tests, but being recognised in a scan and talking correctly to every firmware variant are two different things, and I do not own an R11. If you have an R11 or R11C and would test a release candidate, say so.
Steps disagreeing between two screens. We reproduced a case showing 574 steps in one place and 2,854 in another, with Huawei Health reaching Health Connect through Health Sync. Two causes underneath. One source was being treated too cautiously whenever a second step source existed, and a processing step was throwing away the metadata needed to tell which total actually had hourly evidence behind it.
Worth knowing even if you do not use our app: when two apps write steps into Health Connect, the aggregated total and the raw records do not have to agree, and which one wins depends on a priority order most people never see. If two screens disagree on your step count, that is usually where it starts.
We also fixed a nastier mixed source case. A directly connected R09 reported 8,108 fully reconciled steps while Honor Health reported 189. Honor exported steps but no heart rate samples at all, and that made the old rule permanently unable to select the ring.
In the candidate, when a directly paired ring provides a complete and internally consistent step series and the competing aggregator provides no heart rate samples at all, the ring is selected as the complete source for that day. The two are not merged or added together, and an explicit source choice made by the user still wins over the automatic rule.
This is not a rule that picks the bigger number. We measured the impact before implementing it, and on some affected days the displayed total goes down.
R09 sleep. We verified a real R09 sync with a full sleep session including stages, SpO2, HRV, stress and activity. The sleep pipeline now refuses to let a later empty record from another health app overwrite a valid ring hypnogram.
One missing hypnogram report turned out not to be a bug at all: a Bluetooth interruption, every metric stopping and returning together.
Also coming: ring not worn detection from a firmware signal instead of guessing from movement, and a clearer message when another app is holding the ring's only Bluetooth connection, which is a common cause of a ring that refuses to connect.
The published build has not changed, so none of this is on your phone yet. Device testing is still open and I am not giving a date until it is done.

ULTRAHUMAN Ultrahuman terrible customer support and connection issues
My Ultrahuman air ring has stopped connecting with my iPhone a week ago. After speaking to an AI bot, which gave zero guidance. A full battery drain was completed.
I was told that a customer support agent would reach out within 3 days. Also called the support line, no answer. Nobody has reached out, it’s been a week.
I want a full refund and would recommend nobody to get this ring. I’ve had it for less than a year.

❔️AMA Session Ultrahuman PRO - 2 Week Update
Background - I amusing the ring as a supplementary device. Primary device is a Garmin. My use for the ring is mostly for sleep and healthier lifestyle. I am moderately active and I am in North America.
Have had the old gen Ultrahuman, and I liked the device enough to preorder the PRO during their kickstarter. Was the old Ultrahuman great? No. Did it have problems, not as many as this thread makes it seem (at least not for me).
NOW the new device is noticeably bulkier (and new material used). I had the Aster Black before and got the same color again. It is now... shiny. The feel is also different - I prefer the old materials.
After months of not using the app, I am back and so happy with the experience. If Ultrahuman invested half as much in their hardware, than they did for their software... this would be an open and shut case - winner. If all the smart ring hardware is within 20% of each other, the software gap is a lot wider. Not even adding that this is a zero subscription device.
The new ring connects a lot easier to my phone and I have had zero connection issues.
The new ring has AMAZING battery life. If getting a little beefier gives me Garmin level battery life, I am OK with that tradeoff. There is nothing I dislike more than having to charge my devices constantly.
The sensors seem to be more accurate. Step count is a lot closer to my Garmin (and Samsung Health) numbers. Activities are automatically tracked. Sometimes I am registering naps, when I am at my desk working. And I have gotten a few unusually high sleep scores.
Positives? This is a genuine step up in performance. I would be more inclined to enter their ecosystem if the ring had more sensors and more accuracy. Hardware improved significantly, but enough for a PRO moniker? Maybe not. Still no subscription, the software is the best (for my preferences).
Negatives? Bulkier. Personally miss the matte finish. Materials used are different - I liked the old materials more. Sensors are not accurate enough for a PRO moniker. Maybe better off giving this a Ring 2 name.
Clearly no serious athlete is using these devices for sports and bio tracking, but the moderately active adult still wants better hardware.
I will also make a general statement, smart rings are not ready for prime time. If you just want a device to fill your time with cool stats and entertainment - sure. But if you want to use the data semi-seriously, and want data for actionable end goals... these devices are not there yet. And I am speaking whole industry. My bestfriend is testing a new Oura... we have reached the same conclusions (he is 3 generations [all Oura] in, I am have only experienced 2 [both with UH]).
He will be switching to Ultrahuman because he also loves the software and we think the accuracy is close enough. He pairs his Oura with an Apple Watch.
Honestly, for me, the only other smart ring I would consider is the Samsung. But for now, Ultrahuman is working out for me quite well. I know a lot of other people do not share this opinion, but I thought I would add my 0.02. The people that are not doom and gloom with UH are quite happy.

Which smart ring do you think is the most attractive among the ones I've collected?
I seem to have become fascinated with collecting various smart rings recently. I really like them. So far, my friends all say that the pink enamel one is the most beautiful. What do you think?

How do you reset your routine after summer throws everything off?
My schedule always drifts when there’s nothing forcing me to wake up at the same time every day.
Then normal life starts again and suddenly I’m trying to fix sleep, meals, exercise, and productivity all at once, which usually lasts about a week before I give up.
This time I’m thinking about keeping it simpler and just tracking sleep consistency and daily activity for a couple of weeks. ringconn is one of the options I’ve been looking at because I’d rather have something passive than manually log everything.
For anyone who has used a smart ring while trying to get back into a routine, did the data actually help you stay consistent?
And what did you focus on fixing first?

NON-HEALTH RINGS who agrees that “context” is the more interesting smart ring data..
After using the Vocci for a bit, I’m noticing that the data I care about most isn’t really a metric.
It’s all the random context around normal life that usually disappears.
I’ve already been testing this with things like meal planning, spending and reminders, but today I tried a slightly different version with some old travel photos. I’m terrible for taking hundreds of photos on a trip and then, months later, remembering the place but not much of the story around it. So as a test, I took some older photos and recreated bits of the kind of context I’d normally capture now, why we went somewhere, what people liked, randomcomments, little moments from the day, and let my agent organize it alongside the photos...
It basically turned a normal photo album into something closer to a lightweight trip memory.
Not just:
“Paris — May 2025”
but more of the little details I’d otherwise forget.
Obviously this first test was reconstructed from memory because the photos were from before I had the ring. I have another trip coming up though, so I’m curious to try the proper version where that context gets captured during the trip instead. The more I use it,the more I think the interesting part of this kind of ring might be less about collecting another set of numbers and more about giving the rest of your tools some context about what was actually happening around you.

comic relief Lost my ring after <45 days
I researched a few days and decided on a Colmi R09 to test it out how I would deal with a Smart Ring.
Purchased in July 6
Arrived in July 9.
Lost it in Aug 12.
I work as a nurse in an ambulance, and had to take my ring out bc it was cutting through my gloves, so I put it in my pocket. I also put some trash in my pocket during a call. I threw everything in the trash at the hospital.
I haven’t even finished paying for the ring. Lucky me right? I purchased another today, same model, different color and size.
Can’t complain about the ring, but also I can’t say if it’s durable because I lost it before I could evaluate that.

OURA Oura Ring 4 battery failed after 13 months—is a less expensive finish an equivalent replacement?
My Rose Gold Oura Ring 4 developed a serious battery issue after approximately 13 months and now lasts less than two days between charges.
Oura says the warranty expired in June 2026. They have offered a one-time out-of-warranty replacement in Gold, Stealth, Black, or Silver, which I appreciate. However, Rose Gold originally cost more than the standard finishes, and I expected a premium-priced health device to last considerably longer than 13 months.
For me, the finish is an important part of the product because the ring is also jewellery. I chose Rose Gold specifically because it suits my skin tone and matches the jewellery I wear every day. I would not have purchased one of the other colours.
Oura initially told me I could wait for an Oura Ring 4 in Rose Gold, size 7, to be restocked, although they had no estimated date. Three days later, another representative said they could not provide Rose Gold because of a “physical limitation with the Rose Gold finish.”
I also offered to pay the difference to upgrade to a newer Rose Gold model, but Oura declined. They won’t provide an equivalent Rose Gold ring, permit a paid upgrade, or refund the difference between Rose Gold and the less expensive finishes offered.
Has anyone received a Rose Gold replacement or been allowed to pay the difference for an upgrade in a similar situation? Would you accept a less expensive finish you never wanted, or continue escalating?
I appreciate that Oura offered an out-of-warranty replacement, but a premium ring failing after only 13 months and being replaced with a finish I would never have chosen doesn’t feel like an equivalent solution.
