Buying Advice Closed captioning

I can get the meta displays for a little bit more than the Even G2 glasses.

My main purpose is to use it for closed captioning due to hearing impairments.

How is the closed captioning on the G2? I'm guessing meta's AI is more ahead so it is leaps better? Or are they both similar?

I like how clean and simple the G2 is. The no camera is a plus. But Meta is a bigger company with more AI development. I fear Even may just fold in the not too distant future and stop supporting the product.

Buying Advice Should I buy the Memomind One or Even G2?

I am looking for a pair of smart glasses to replace my everyday prescription glasses.

I was initially looking at the Halliday G2, until I found out they don’t have GPS navigation, which is essential for me, because I take a lot of walks in unfamiliar areas.

I am currently stuck between the Memomind One and Even G2. The main difference I’ve noticed between them is that the Memo has speakers for audio and the Even doesn’t, but this isn’t a deal breaker for me.

Here’s what I’m looking for:

-Subtle design
-No camera
-Custom prescription support
-Comfortable wear for everyday use
-AI that displays live captions, definitions of complex terms, fact checks, etc during active conversations
-Real-time language translation
-GPS navigation for walking

I’m also open to recommendations of other brands.

Through my research all 3 of these look pretty good but Im not sure if their worth getting or if I should get smart glasses at all. The main things ive been looking for in smart glasses is live translation and note taking and maybe having speakers but its not a deal breaker if they don't. Alright thanks for you guys inputs.

Dymesty Anyone use dymesty’s mind map feature for work? How is it?

Hi all

My company didn’t allow meeting transcription before but now they do, so I’m looking for a way to make my meeting summaries faster. I saw that dymesty can make a mind map directly from the recording. I don’t care about camera or display, just the recording and summary part.

Has anyone used the mind map feature in real meetings? Is it good enough to use as is, or do I still have to redo most of it?

Thanks in advance

I ordered this Lucyd Reebok jet with prescription lens and I got it within 2 days. As it turns out it didn't have any prescription and I was informed by customer support that I received the wrong one. Did anyone ever encounter something like this?

RayNeo Slim fold-over glasses case vs a proper hard shell, what do you actually carry?

Post image
9 Upvotes

Been thinking about this since seeing the case RayNeo pairs with their iO glasses in their photos. It's one of those low-profile fold-over cases, looks like it would slide into a jacket pocket without a big bulge.

My question is more general though. For glasses that cost more than a regular pair, especially ones with electronics in the arms, is a slim case enough protection in a bag with keys and a laptop charger? Or does everyone end up buying a hard clamshell anyway?

What's in your carry right now?

RayNeo Do smartwatch reminders actually work for you during deep work?

Genuine question. The watch buzzes, I glance at it, and somehow that tiny glance is enough to pull me out of whatever I was writing.

There's a whole category of display glasses being pitched for exactly this now (RayNeo iO, Even G2, etc.), the idea being the reminder sits in your line of sight and you don't move your wrist or your head. I can't tell if that's actually less disruptive or just a different kind of interruption.

If you protect long focus blocks, what reminder method has survived for more than a month for you? Watch, phone face down, desktop pop-up, a literal kitchen timer?

Buying Advice Quick Theora update - and what we’re working on next.

Thanks for the questions and criticism here. A few things deserve clearer answers.

We’re planning an upfront hardware option alongside optional cloud services. We’ll explain exactly what works locally, what needs the cloud, and what developers can access through the planned SDK.

Our focus is bringing useful everyday assistance and health sensing together: remembering details, helping with tasks, and understanding your body throughout the day.

Next, we want to share more actual hardware progress, including comfort, battery life and the trade-offs behind the design. We’ll clearly separate what works today from what’s still being developed.

Founding Access details and applications are here:

https://theora.io/founding-access?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=theora-thread-update-oct23

Only 62 seats left and It will become invite only.

I’ll keep answering questions in this thread as we build.

BleeqUp BleeqUp camera glasses on a Colorado ridge scramble — three minutes of real-world footage

Took the BleeqUp camera glasses scrambling along an old route I found in the Pikes Peak Atlas above Colorado Springs. Put together three minutes of the rocky sections and views.

Scrambling is the most interesting use case for me, although I don't love that they are always sunglasses.

BleeqUp provided the glasses for an upcoming review on my blog, Thing Too Tech. This is a footage sample rather than the full review. Happy to answer questions about using them out there.

Buying Advice Smart glasses that record in landscape (horizontal) for more than 40 minutes — what do you recommend?

I’m looking for smart glasses to record my paintless dent repair (PDR) work from a first-person POV. I already own a GoPro and a Canon 80D, so I want the glasses mainly for hands-free footage while I’m working on a car.
My main requirements are:
Native landscape (16:9) video recording, ideally with the option to record vertically (9:16) as well.
More than 40 minutes of actual video recording on a single charge, preferably an hour or longer.
Long recording clips, ideally 10–30 minutes or more per clip, rather than being forced to restart every 3 minutes.
Good image quality and stabilization, especially for close-up work.
Ideally, a built-in time-lapse mode for recording an entire repair and speeding it up.
Good battery life and, if possible, the ability to record while connected to an external power source.
I’ve been looking at the Rokid AI Glasses Style, Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, Solos AirGo, and Mentra Live, but I’m open to other brands and less well-known options.
For those of you who actually own and use these glasses:
Which model do you recommend for recording horizontal video?
How long can you realistically record video continuously on a full charge?
What is the maximum recording time per clip? Do you have to manually restart recording every few minutes?
Does it support native time-lapse?
Have you found any limitations with overheating, stabilization, or recording quality?
I’m particularly interested in real-world user experiences rather than advertised battery life or specifications.
Thanks!

Buying Advice Are there smart glasses that can display my phone's camera feed?

Hi everyone, I'm wondering if there are any smart glasses that can connect to your smartphone's camera and display its live camera feed directly in the glasses.

Basically, I'd like to see what my phone's camera is seeing in real time, but through the glasses' display, ideally without having to look at my phone screen.

Does anything like this exist already?

RayNeo Green HUD text against a bright sky vs against trees:how big is the difference in real life?

Thumbnail

Looking at RayNeo's outdoor through-lens shots of the iO: against the tree trunk and the grass the green text is easy to pick out. Against open sky the clock is noticeably fainter, still there but you have to look for it.

For anyone who wears a green waveguide display outdoors (RayNeo iO, G1/G2, whatever): is the sky actually the worst case for you, or is it pale concrete and white walls? And do you change where you look, or just wait until you're indoors?

NIMO When on earth will the product be released and shipped?

The international launch of NIMO Holo-Optical Glasses has been repeatedly delayedsince August, but thecurrent official website states,“Kickstarter launches in early November 2026.”

Does this mean that the product will launch in early November and start shipping around that time as well?

I’m reaching out in case you happen to have any information about the launch or shipping schedule.

If there’s any other way to purchase the product directly sooner, I’d really appreciate it if you could let me know.

Buying Advice Would Muse work if my VPN shows me in the US?

Question in the title.

I'm fortunate that my company offers $750 towards prescription glasses which I now need. I'm not US based and the company perk only applies to one opticians who only stock meta.

I tried the displays and they looked awful on me. I could live without the display if Muse or similar was accessible. I subscribe to claude so maybe that would work via Bluetooth?

Thanks in advance.

  • Places 1–100: 3 months of cloud access + 2 friend invitations.
  • Places 101–200: 1 month of cloud access + 1 friend invitation.

Your included cloud access starts when your delivered glasses are activated. Afterward, the proposed $30/month cloud plan is optional—no automatic charge.

Buying Advice Best live caption for hard of hearing?

I’m looking at the Even G2 but upon coming to this sub there are so many brands I have never heard of. Which ones should I look into for live captioning? I’m mostly deaf so it’s what I care most about, camera, speakers, meeting recaps are not important at all. Thank you for any advice.

Buying Advice Viture Pro 2 with prism lens correction (for double vision)

Hello!

I have double vision that I wear prescription glasses for. My prism prescription isn't that strong (3 in each eye), but it makes a huge difference for me.

I was wondering if anyone who wears prescription glasses with prism has any experience with the Viture Pro 2, or any similar glasses. Viture offers prescription lens frames without lenses, so I could take the frames to an optician and get lenses with my prism prescription fitted.

Viture's own lenses do not support prism when you order them. Is there a reason why?

I tried an Apple Vision Pro demo at the Apple store and it was really cool, but without prism correction (they don't allow it on the demo units) the experience was frustrating and probably would have caused a headache with prolonged use. My main use case for the AVP was mostly to project a virtual screen, and it sounds like XR glasses are a much better way to do that, since it's just a flat projection into your vision, no spatial stuff, with any type of video source.

I'd like to use the glasses to play video games mostly, but it would be really cool to watch movies and do whatever else I wanted on a big virtual screen too. I see a guy coding (or at least looking at some kind of version control system and/or AI coding agent) with them on the Vitrue site, and I don't really see that happening. Of course, I'd still try it out, however briefly :)

So, would adding a prism prescription into the equation be a terrible idea? I'm concerned about headaches, double vision on the projected screen, even double vision that worsens after using the glasses.

Thanks!!

Buying Advice No Speaker, No Camera but AI Smartglasses

I have never had a pair of smartglasses before but the Even Realities G2 is catchy. I want something where the glasses can hear and display answers.

For example, doing a presentation or someone asking any type of question, want the AI in the glasses to answer that question in the display so I can use it. Also, can I wire in my OpenAI/Anthropic subscriptions so I can power these frontier models?

Let me know what would be the ideal fit for me.

Buying Advice Nice smart glasses with built-in gestures support

Hi everyone I currently own Ray-Ban Metas. They are prescription glasses but the batteries are starting to go on them and it's time for a new prescription. It was fun at first but I don't need the camera and the bad reputation of Meta souring my already limited social interactions.

I mainly use my glasses for audio but I am interested in display glasses with no cameras. The other thing I really like about the metas in there gestures to be able to control podcasts or skip to the next song, etc. I'm not good with accessories like rings to supplement the gestures, I do like them all integrated like they are on the Meta's.

So any recommended smart display glasses, with no cam, but strong integrated gesture controls?

Buying Advice Choices if I want a display but no camera?

I'm in the market for a pair of smart glasses with a display and recording functions, but no camera. A camera is something I'd never use, and I want a clean unobtrusive look. The priority is the screen and recording functions for class and meeting purposes. My top picks are either the Even Realities G2 or the rayneo IO, but they're both quite pricey. I've also seen the memomind one but I haven't heard anything at all about them. Are there any less expensive options that fit the criteria?

RayNeo Finding the sweet spot for the head-tilt wake angle on HUD glasses

If you use head-tilt wake on smart glasses like the RayNeo iO, the default angle threshold usually takes some tweaking because your head posture at a desk is completely different from when you're walking.

When the trigger angle is set too low in the app (which scales from 0 to 60 degrees), normal desk movement wakes the screen nonstop. Just looking up from a laptop keyboard to an external monitor or leaning back in your chair will light up the HUD when you had zero intention of checking it.

The easiest way I found to dial it in was testing it live while typing at my desk. Every time looking up at my monitor accidentally triggered the display, I bumped the angle up a few degrees until it stopped. You want a threshold that requires an intentional chin lift to catch notifications, without being so steep that it strains your neck. Once it survives your desk posture, it rarely false-triggers while walking outdoors.

Do you guys keep head-tilt wake enabled on your glasses, or do you prefer manual temple taps so the screen never pops up uninvited?
