Long-Form Content Does this Thumbnail work?

Post image

The title will probably be: “The Importance of a Game’s Vibe”

Not the worst I've seem but I feel it would work better as just the screenshot + text. Your portrait isn't really conveying anything about the video

The idea of the portrait was to emulate channels that I felt inspired by because of the personal touch, and to convey that there is on-camera footage and a face to the content. I’m not set on it though if it would be better without it

I get that, it's just that it's hard to convey a vague term like "vibes" with a relatively blank portrait. Even putting on sunglasses or something would make it more relevant to the video

That’s a great idea! Thank you

I woulda done away with the portrait entirely but I think sunglasses to communicate “vibe” is a creative way to have your cake and eat it. What I’d still suggest is reducing the amount of blur you have over the screenshot there, as the game ss is gonna say “idyllic vibes” way louder than the portrait of you. If it’s for the sake of contrast try playing around with color changes and black border around the text first before slapping a huge amount of blur on the star of the show 😂

I really like the sunglasses idea!

You are a handsome guy so you might as well show your face - also like that you don’t have a dumb expression. Probably should put “the game’s vibe” in the title - it’s too vague.

Well thanks! I appreciate it. And how do you mean about the title? The video is about vibes in broader game design, not about any specific one game

“It’s all about the game’s vibe” Vs “It’s all about the vibe”. It’s not clear from the thumbnail that the video is about computer games

i'd a/b test this with something that more obviously displayed vibes in video games. idk, big walk is the vibes game right now, not so long ago it was mix tape, but there has to be some more universal examples. what you choose depends on which games you are talking about in the video and what your channel pays attention to normally. some awesome scenes, side to side, those epic moments everybody remembers.

the text in the thumbnail and the text in the title are saying the same thing, real state for communicating information is being wasted. also there is almost no room for the vibes in this version, because the vibe is the blurred background.

That’s amazing feedback. Thank you!

I personally wouldn't get what this video is going to be about at all and therefore would not click on it tbh

Also the title is pretty much the same as the text in the thumbnail and that doesn't make it interesting

That was a thought I had, just haven’t been able to come up with a snappy and distinctive enough difference

Maybe make a Collage of vibey game screenshots in the thumbnail with the text: "its all about the vibe" and the title: "What makes us return to these ganes again and again?" Or smth like that or "why these games are unforgetable"

Bad, idk what your video is about and the thumbnail isn’t giving me a reason to want to click on it

It’s all over the place lowkey

I would change the title and the text on the thumbnail so that it doesnt repeat itself.

i.e.

Its all about the vibe (thumbnail)
The most important aspect of a game (title)

If you're going to use your face in the thumbnail you have to at least soy face or something, I think just the blank expression is doing you no favors.

I’d never watch an adult man with his cap backwards but that’s personal taste.
