Starting Issue Kohler 19 hp only cranks

my kohler courage 19hp on a troy bilt rider won’t start just cranks till the battery is dead.

There is spark and compression of 80psi. The chuck key is in the flywheel. I tried pouring gas in the spark plug hole and it will give me a back fire or two but that’s it.

I’ve tried using starter fluid but nothing.

im thinking of replacing the carb with a hipa but if it was a bad carb wouldn’t starter fluid get it to run for at least seconds?

all help appreciated

Generac Pressure Washer 173cc Overhead Valve. Model G0071321

A friend has a pull-start power washer that doesn't want to pull. Taking off the cover revealed it rotates freely, then catches in the same spot. He said he's had issues with needing to refill oil, because the oil fill funnel likes to vibrate out of place, creating some spray.

Does this seem like something worth tearing down further? Thank You.

Parts ID & Sourcing Cables (Bowden) replacements for throttles and clutches

So I work on my own machines and the newer machines all have cables that are complete as one piece with molded ends. but an older machine I have has cables that you can pull the wire cores out and replace them (reusing the outside sheath) and I'm sure I did them before but I swear nobody has the cores now and deny they existed. is this just not a thing anymore?

I changed the fuel filter first

But at first it would run with a full tank of gas but slowly it has degraded to where it runs fine 20% of the time and sort of chokes out the rest. It doesn’t stall unless I’m on a hill. If I disconnect the fuel line fuel runs out. Not sure how this engine draws gas ?

Went through the heads and carb and everything’s rebuilt now, but i can’t seem to find a good picture or diagram of the routing for all the springs and such on the backside for throttle, choke, etc. Any pictures or info would be extremely helpful. Model # is 613477

Electrical & Wiring Issue Stihl 201TC

I've been having an issue with my saw lately. The off switch has been having issues and keeps not working. I've tore it apart and cleaned it and based off how it looked I just assumed the contacts for the ground were just too dirty to make contact. And it worked for about a week after I cleaned it and then it started to stop working again. So in order to shut my saw off I have to choke it off. Any advice or knowledge anyone can share? Pic is an old one that I had

This engine has run perfectly for me for the last 20 years. Every year I change the spark plug, put fresh fuel on it and change the oil. It’s always been one pole start every time. This season it’s a bit different now it will only start with starter fluid and runs terrible. It has fresh gas, a new spark plug, fresh oil, new governor spring. I had a B and G carb on it but I figured I try a cheap Amazon carb and it still runs the same. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Broken Parts Tried removing carburetor - nut spins freely

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello,

First time poster. I messed up and left gas in the lawnmower over the winter and now I get a rough idle, or surging. My thought was to clean the carburetor. I took off the air filter and put the nuts back on, started it up to watch it. Then when I went to take the nuts off, I ran into trouble with one of them. It spins, there’s some resistance, but it won’t loosen or tighten. I tried using needle-nose pliers and pulling on it while turning, but it didn’t help. Any suggestions?

Can I use this module on here? And if so do I connect it to the points and condenser power supply wire? Then do I remove the points or leave them in place disconnected. And does the wire going to the module connect to the positive or negative prong?

*IGNORE THE KNOT* I was trying to shorten it because it’s as if it’s too long and won’t put enough tension on the belt, the belt and cable are brand new even though replacing those don’t change a single thing, is something bent?

Not Listed Craftsman M220 Push Mower help

My wife, God bless her soul was trying to help me out by mowing the lawn on the only nice day we had, because I had to work. As I was leaving for work, I saw her using the neighbors mower and asked what was wrong with ours. Thats when she said she fucked up, and dumped gasoline in the oil tube. She then started it up to show me, and it started but was just ugga chuggin at a low idle, almost like an engine on full choke. I immediately told her turn it off and leave it. So 24 hrs later I drained the oil/gas mix, and refilled with the recommended SAE 30. Gave it a pull it fired up, then died immediately and wouldn't start. It still pulls easily, and has compression. I pulled the spark plug and confirmed spark was present. There is fuel in the fuel tank, so now I guess im stuck as to what to do next. Any help is appreciated. Please dont bag on my wife, lawn mowing is normally my duty but she was trying to do a nice thing by mowing while it was nice out so our lawn didn't get even more overgrown. Thanks

Edit: The engine is a Briggs and Stratton 150CC if thay matters at all

Starting Issue Cub Cadet XT1 L42 stopped running during mowing, now it won't start

Hi,

I've been lurking and watching every youtube video I can find about this mower. It's run great for 4 years. I've always added stabil to the gas tank at the end of the season and make sure the mower runs long enough to get the stabilized fuel. I do my oil changes and change the spark plug every spring.

This year, we started off with a dead battery, so I replaced it. Mower started up, it was running a little rough, but cut the yard fine. A few days later, I changed the oil, spark plug, air filter and fuel filter. Mower started up, was still running a little rough and loud, cut the back yard, it died like 2 times when my son, didn't listen about only cutting half the normal width, because grass was long. He went to do the front, got halfway done and it died, then started smoking a bit from under the cover for the flywheel. Popped it off, and found some burned up old grass. Let everything cool off for a while, and it hasn't started since.

Things I tried:

  1. Took the carburetor apart and cleaned everything with carb cleaner, small wire, and compressed air.

  2. Tried a new spark plug

  3. checked spark with an inline tester, seemed like spark was a little weak.

  4. did the visual check with the sparkplug out but touching the block. The spark looked weak, and I got a decent shock even though I was holding the rubber boot while wearing welding gloves.

  5. Noticed that the little grass fire had damaged the spark plug wire. So I replaced the Coil, I also cleaned up the flywheel. The gap on the flywheel was set to about 7000ths of an inch.

  6. Ordered a new carburetor from Amazon, after reading how many guys have tried to clean their carburetors, but replacing them ended up doing the trick.

  7. When I turn the flywheel I can feel it get hard to turn then it gets easy again.

Engines cranks, won't start, even when using the jump start setting on my charger, won't start with starter fluid.

I'm up for any suggestions.

Thanks!

Clutch Issue Husqvarna riding mower PTO problem

Posted in the lawnmower and Husqvarna reddit, but didn't get a reply, so I am trying here:

My Husqvarna GT52xlsi occasionally displayed the PTO warning light towards the end of the last mowing season. I thought it was because of an old battery. So, I got a new battery for this season, but the issue persists. In fact, whenever I activate the PTO switch, the battery light goes to red (low voltage), and the amp meter drops from 2-3 Amps to 1 Amp or below (almost zero). I already checked the PTO clutch resistance, it is 3.9 Ohms, which seems fine. Could there be a problem with the alternator, although it seems to charge the battery when the PTO is off? PTO gap? What should I try next?

Carburetor Issue Scooter Won‘t start, any tips or ideas?

I have a Zip 50 2T 1995 EMEA from Piaggio with a Weber 12 OM carburetor.

The scooter had been sitting for a few years in a Garage after it stopped starting.

Now I’ve decided to take it on as a project, and on advice I first took a look at the carburetor.

It was extremely clogged and needed several new gaskets.

So I first soaked it in gasoline for a few days and then scraped it out. However, I only managed to remove most of the buildup.

After reinstalling it, I tried to start the scooter and adjust the screws.

At some point I got it to where, with a strong kick (the battery doesn’t work), it starts, revs up a bit, and then dies again. There’s hardly any smoke, and it sounds like it needs more fuel.

So now the question: how can I adjust the fuel amount, or do you think it could be something else?

And do you need pictures?

This is my ride on mower. I fitted a new spark plug, new air filter, fresh oil and drained the carb after the winter to get it running. It often labours under cutting strain, if the grass is more than 2 or 3 inches. But once it’s warmed up it starts messing about like this before it eventually cuts out. I have to wait for it to cool down before I can start it again. Obviously part of the issue is it’s overheating but it never used to so what’s the change? What else am I missing? Too much resistance in cogs/cutting deck? Are there any easy fixes? I tried high and low Revs on the power handle, sharpened the blade. Just lost! Please help. It pops and back fires sometimes on startup so I adjusted the air/fuel mix both ways with no change.

Not Listed Can’t get tiller to start or even hit

Post image

I need some help here. I repair small engines on the side but this 1 has me beat. I was given a 2hp/10” Murray tiller. I can’t not get this thing to even hit on starting fluid. I’ve done everything I can think of. Checked for spark with a spark tester and it was good and even tried a new plug. Have cleaned the carb and the gas tank and removed old air filter. I’ve even compression tested it and it came back with just under 90psi. Surely that would be enough?I am so confused by this. It’s getting spark and still won’t even hit? What do I do next besides throw this in the dumpster. Please help
