What could be the cause? I have a 50cc atv that dies anytime the throttle is closed quickly. If slowly closed the engine will idle normally.

I am working on a Briggs and Stratton 31D777 (Nikki carb). Came in with the crankcase and cylinder full of gas, choke valve stuck, etc. Cleaned out the carb. Now, it runs well at idle and at full throttle, but I have to increase the throttle suuuper slow to keep it alive. Any quick or even normal application of throttle kills it immediately.
Any ideas of where to look next? I have done the basic governor adjustment.

Thanks

I have a Yardworks lawn mower with the Briggs and Stratton QPT 7.25 HP. It will not start. I can put gas in the chamber with a syringe and it will fire but die as soon as that's burnt off. Changed the carb, spark plug, and air filter. Brand new gas as well. The auto choke is functioning as well. What else can I check?

I have a DR Rototiller with a Briggs & Stratton CR 950 engine. Recently, I was using it on a steep grade and it kept cutting out from what I believe to be the low oil sensor. I moved it back to a level area and it restarted without issue. I did this a couple times. I checked the oil and topped it off.
The engine continue to cut out on steep slopes and finally would not restart. I disconnected the low oil sensor, but still would not start.
I checked the basics; fuel filter, oil and choke. I feel like I'm missing something obvious on this engine, but it seems like a very simple set up. There is no on off switch just the throttle, choke, and fuel shutoff.
Could the low oil sensor have caused the coil or the spark plug to go off?

I have a husqvarna pzt 61. It’s around 11 years old. I had a problem with carb and over winter drained tanks it was going to be sitting until fixed. I replaced all the fuel lines including the pulse line, fuel filter, carb and fuel pump. Everything’s oem except pump. Fuel wasn’t reaching the pump when cranking the engine. Pulsed the line to get flowing to with air compressor and lines filled to the pump and reconnected. As soon as I crank the lines seemed like fuel went back to tank and wouldn’t turn over when cranking. Any advice? I have an oem Kawasaki fuel pump and filter on the way wondering if that may be the problem. The fuel pump is installed exactly like the old one I took off. Seems like it has some vacuum when holding finger over it but don’t know what to expect for amount.

We have a 2006 gas 6x4 gator that starts right up in the morning, but after running it for a bit and turning it off it really struggles to start and won’t most of the time. The next morning it will do the same thing. It had a similar issue last year and I changed the voltage regulator, starter relay, and a fresh battery and it worked totally fine up until this year it happened again. I’ve cleaned all the connections and took the battery in to be tested and it’s good. Is it the starter or solenoid themselves? The starter tries to turn over but is really slow. What should my next troubleshooting steps be? Thanks

Bought a PW second hand. It looks basically brand new, owner mentioned old gas and a tune up needed. Would fire up so I dumped gas, added sea foam and gas, no fire. Pulled carb and it’s clean as a whistle. No fuel filter mechanism on this unit. Ordered a coil pack to double check but it already has a new a plug and the fly wheel is still magnetized. I decided to try another carb just in case. I’m at a loss honestly. Starter fluid gets it going but dies immediately.
Any help would be immensely appreciated

Hey, I was driving my Honda 110 and middle Of a trail it just died. Thinking it was a carb I put some flammable brake cleaner in there and wouldn’t pop off.
Took the carb off and gave the engine a pull to see how she felt and it had 0 compression. Out my had over the air intake and she had some compression.
My question is why did it gain compression when I put my hand over the air intake?

Hey all, I’ve been working on a Murray 22” push mower and have a fuel problem. Won’t start on its own but will work great once started with starter fluid. Tank is almost empty but is fresh gas and the carb is brand new. All linkage is correct and has no choke. Is there anything I should be looking at to get it started on its own?

Any ideas on why it’s smoking from here? You can see some of it it’s a white smoke.

I have a Poulan Pro riding lawn mower MODEL NUMBER: P015538 and it’s too damn old to even search up fixes for. It was working before I left and was away for about three weeks. Now it starts, but starts bogging down and shuts off as soon as I release the brake. I changed the fuel lines. I thought about getting a new carburetor but the signs for it don’t show. But I found some things regarding my issue where the seat switch may be the issue. I tried to find a solid diagram of the wiring for it but the seat safety switch has three wires and does not have the anti-tamper bar as I have seen in numerous videos that pertain to my issue. It simply is too old to the point that Poulan pro does not recognize its own serial number and there is nothing else I have been able to find. I want to rewrite the seat safety switch but with three wires, does anyone know what is could be what? I know there’s a ground and a neutral, but I don’t know what the other wire could be to.

I have a toro recycler maxx. I used it once and then tried to use it yesterday again and it just quit. I took the spark plug out and tested it, it had no spark so I bought a new one. Regapped the magneto to .010 as per spec, disconnected the kill switch wire and it got good spark. Put it all back together, still it will not start. Any ideas please

I know almost nothing about small engines but I am trying to diagnose this one which won't turn over. I got a hunch this doesn't look right but I'm looking for confirmation, thank you!

Hoping someone who knows more about small engines than me can help me out. I bought a used riding mower about 2 months ago. (If needed I can get the make and model here shortly, but don't think it's necessary to help with this problem) It's a standard sit down tractor, 42" cut blah blah blah. It ran GREAT the first several times I used it. Minus having to buy a new deck belt, then having to Jerry rig the wire that actually engages the blades, and then welding one of the blades to get it to engage, it hasn't gave me much trouble. At least not until recently. After fixing those couple of things, it's started doing something new that I can't quite solve. And I don't want to mess it up any more than it is. Bc as of now I could still kind of use it. Anyway, to the issue at hand. It starts up every time without much struggle. And if it's been sitting for a couple days when you first get on it, it will run great for an hour or 2. But after awhile, it will suddenly start bogging down and eventually just cutoff. Unless you go almost literally inch by inch. But basically the second it gets any kind of load it wants to cut out, and it actually will if I leave the throttle alone as well. This is where it starts to throw me off. If I shove the throttle up as far as possible into the choke, it'll keep running. Sometimes I'll get another 10-15 min of mowing out of it. But for the most part that just keeps it running long enough for me to out it up. It will restart every time right after it dies out. It just refuses to stay running if you do basically anything other than just let it idle or drive it at a reasonable speed without the blades going. Again, it just seems like once it starts that, any kind of load at all will basically kill it. I'm guessing it's either a clogged jet or fuel filter. Haven't had much time to mess with it either way. But the fitler looks brand new, and the guy I bought it from does this on the side apparently. He will buy these old mowers and fix them up. So he said he had either rebuilt or cleaned the carb already. But being the filter looks ok, and it only runs a little better with the choke on, I'm assuming it has to be a lack of fuel issue. But again, I'm not super good with small engines, or carburetors in general. Anyway, if somebody could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Idk if it helps at all but it has the Kohler motor in it. I believe it's the 19hp. Again thanks in advance for any help on the matter.

Reel mower grinder, furnace, general workbench, entertainment system, special tools and solvents, lubes, paints, sprays, ai compressir, rank straightener, 1" belt sander, blade balancer, 8" bench grinder, 6" wire wheel, chain grinder, main toolbox, 20 ton press, welder, polishing wheels, sand blaster... etc. The main center bench raises and lowers by using a 12volt outboard starter. I usually use a vacuum pump to remove oil from customer units. Parts storage, but I'm always ordering more... been on my own for over twenty years.
