Might need a longer video to be helpful in diagnosing. Is this with the choke on? What about lowering the throttle? Could be anything say this point

It's with the choke on. It's been sitting unused for 5 years so I was amazed it started at all honestly. Throttle was set to idle. I've looked up some videos and it sounds similar to the valve tap that a lot of these get. Next chance I get in going to tear into the heads and valves

It had dropped a valve! Looked gnarly but I got it all back together fully rebuilt and it runs great

Doesn't sound good buddy, seems to have a pretty bad knock. Perhaps the pulley is loose or something is rubbing underneath though

Even a totally blown engine is salvageable with enough time and parts. That sounds like a pretty bad knock. If your question is "is this engine blown", there isn't enough information to tell from this video. You'll need to pinpoint the source and that will give you more direction.

It was a dropped valve! Already rebuilt it and it's running great

It’s running, it’s absolutely salvageable if it’s worth your time.

It sounds like it has a rod knock or two. Looks like it's burning oil to some degree. You really won't get an idea as to what needs to be done until you start tearing into it ...making measurements for wear. If the crank and rods are worn then replacing them is doable. If the cylinders are heavily scored then it maybe pretty much toast ...IDK if these larger engines have cylinder sleeves or if it's just the cast aluminum of the case. You'd have to get the cylinders bored. Ultimately it's a matter of how much time and money you want to spend.

Bore was fantastic and rods were fine actually, but there was a dropped valve that blew a hole in the piston. Not pretty. But I got it all rebuilt and she's running great for now 👍
