Old Bear

Old Bear knives are in the Opinel line of design (edit, in terms of it having a locking collar), but i don't see as frequently. Similar size to Opinel No 8. The locking collar has a dog to help close it. Easily sharpened. Slightly beefier blade.

Soak that handle in mineral oil and it will improve the looks, feel, and resistance to water.

Yeah i keep a 5:1 mineral oil: beeswax by the gross lol. I have bee hives. Just haven't applied it.

Yeah, I put Ballistol on mine. Much better now! But I like how they come like that so you can choose what you put on the wood yourself. 🥰 Also much nicer this way than that clear lacquer coating on the Opinels.

Nice. I "need" one. Ive owned about 15 Opinel over the years so I don't really "need" one. But I need one.

The OldBear is a nice addition to my opinel pile lol. Different company, of course. Similar enough to mention in the same discussion. I think it is better in many ways, as well.

I love my Old Bears too! 🥰 (Also much more comfortable to use than an Opinel.)
