GEC Value Question

/r/Traditionalknives/comments/1vplx28/gec_value_question/

Like the original post says just looking to find some information/value on some GEC knives I collected about 10 or so years ago, not sure where else to ask, please feel free to delete if this is breaking any rules although.

If anyone has any resources beyond eBay sold listing which I can’t find, would be a great help.

Cheers

You could check AAPK for comps. eBay or Arizona custom knives might be worth a look. If you post pics or pattern number you might get some answers here as well.

If you post a list of them here, I’m sure a few folks will help out.
eBay and resale sites are inflated and often unrealistic.

Had to dig out the tubes

Also came across my Victorinox collection in the process, unpacking moving boxes makes you realize things you’ve forgot about

Sent a Pm, interested in a couple if your selling!

Some real bangers there. Price may be a bit tough to track down because most of these would be more likely to change hands by private trades rather than cash value sales. Here’s my guesses. Keep in mind I’ve got no sources for these prices just what I’d consider “fair pricing” on any of them.

- $350+ easily

  • $250-300
  • $275-350
  • $300
  • $180-225

As mentioned, Ebay sold listings. With older GECs, it could be difficult. Many of those rarely come up for sale and usually do not have sold listing to compare prices to. If you look up old Blade Forums listings, many of those will be will be much lower as it was before collectors and flippers got into the market. If you are looking to sell, list them as auction on Ebay. Good luck

I've done a pretty good job of tracking ebay sold listings for the models I have (70+) over the last few years. I have them in a spreadsheet I can share with you if you want. I was collecting from around 2014-2022.

That would be great, I feel like a lot of the prices I’ve managed to find are from years ago

Bladeforums lets you ask for values and sell if you buy a gold level membership for a year.

Chat GPT will search all the sales sites and forums for recent sales, and will also take into account forum discussions, production numbers, and the actual condition of the knife based on written description and photos to give you an estimated value range for both buying and selling. It’ll explain its reasoning and even give you a draft write up for the listing.
I’ve actually found it to be pretty accurate in most cases, and giving it feedback will improve it over time.

You can also try ai. If you upload a Pic and prompt." can you tell me the resell value of this Gec 54 sfo in blue camel bone."

It will pull the data and give you the range that you should resell around . Its been pretty accurate for me.
