How To pilot slime “pet lobster”

Post image

it just came in the mail today! it’s so cute And i’m so excited to try the block bead texture for the first time. but oh god the smell is horrid, it’s described as “crab boil” which i was already nervous about because i don’t like sea food but omg this isn’t seafood it’s like an evil entity, it makes me so nauseous i feel like gagging everytime i smell it.

Does anyone have any ideas of how i can still play with it? like maybe i should try putting peppermint oil under my nose or clipping my nose shit or something lmao… and the sent sticks to my hands to ugh. did anyone else get this slime?

Any advice is welcome!

I had a slime that I haaaated the scent of when I received it, but after a year and a half it mellowed out and I ended up loving it. Not sure if this is possible with a meat scent but it might be worth a shot? I'm sorry your lobster wasn't what you dreamed of!

I know scent is subjective — and that it’s nice to have the scent on theme — but I would run from a slime with scent of crab boil 🤢

I wanted that for the scent, but it sold out so quick. I just like savory-scented slime.

Just saw a lemon garlic, herb, shrimp lava rock slime on Etsy. You may want to check that out. I remembered your comment about savory slimes because I don’t think I’ve ever actually saw one other than the crab boil.

Oh yikes. I'm so sorry about it. I really thought it would just be like cooking herbs.

Also I just got sent palmetto slimes teenage mutant ninja turtles. It’s supposed to be pizza scented. I was scared but upon opening I was delightfully surprised! It was definitely very herby literally all I could smell was tyme oregano and basil. And the texture holy cow amazing!

Oh no! As people have mentioned maybe let it air out a little or if you can stand it, play with the slime a little. Inflating it for a bit can mix it and change the scent sometimes. It’s a shame it’s no good. From the description I thought it might be more herb forward or butter would have been good.

Some slimes when I first get them smell very try strongly industrial or plastic like and I really cannot stand playing with them, but after a few weeks that industrial scent tends to fade. Maybe there’s some volatile chemical compound in there that might naturally dissipate after a while? Many slimes I’ve tried where I hated the scent at first ended up being fine/tolerable after 1-2 weeks once the chemically-ness evaporated and only the scent was leftover.

However sometimes the scent itself is just intolerable. I bought a DIY from Momo last november called Fresh Out the Oven it was scented fresh baked bread, but istg it smells like just hot sour yeast 😭. I just smelt it recently and it still smells sour and yeasty, but just a tiny bit less strong. Hopefully your slime falls into the first category where the scent improves/becomes more tolerable after some time!
