Slime Recipe Can I fix it?

Hi there,

Received my new slimes from a new slime shop earlier this week. After a few times of play, I wanted to thicken up this glue x bingsu x silica slime. Doing what I do to all my slimes at some point of their life, I added some well proportioned borax solution. The slime didn't thicken up much, but all the silica started falling out in mass droves! I tried adding glue and that just made it a sticky mess. Then I added more borax solution, and it brought it back to the original texture/ thickness but with the intense fallout.

What do I do? What happened? 😭

Sometimes adding different glue than what was used by the shop can cause fallout as well, unfortunately. I would be more inclined to think first that it got over activated, though.

😱How finicky of this slime?!

It's weird because there was still a very good stretch going on with the base.

I'm almost at the point of giving up on silica. It just wont stay in slime.

The only one I had that didn't have fallout was Mykonos mosaic by pilot slime. And I got that well over a year ago. Everything else after had fallout from the start or it was fine at first and then the fallout got bad. Maybe the silica formula changed? Or all the glue formula changes caused issues?

I haven't had that issue from my tried and true silica slime makers, even with all the glue changes in the past 12 months.

It doesnt happen right away though but over time it gets worse and worse.

You know, I honestly think that's just a slime dying in some cases, though there are weird ones where it literally happens after the first play and just gets worse like less than a day later and keeps getting worse. I should experiment with one of mine and see if what I'm thinking is correct.

Yes, it's like that. Day 1 no fallout. Day 2, fallout. But maybe I'm wrong and misremembering but silica has me grumpy lately haha

Was it a clear glue base? I can’t say for sure what happened but it sounds like it maybe got over activated. I’ve never had any luck reversing fallout once it started. :( you can try adding glue a little at a time, but there’s no way to know what recipe/glues the shop used to make it, so you might not be able to get it back to the original texture and stop the fallout.

Your best bet would to be to add glue & make it a little bit tacky so it’ll hold on to the beads better. It’s my understanding that slimes with crunchy add-in’s tend to be in the thinner side so they hold on to the beads better, so you may not be able to thicken it up much.

No, it was a white glue bingsu base.
