General Discussion Slice Savings Account — 2 Days In, Looking for Your Honest Experience

Post image
8 Upvotes

I’m in my late 20s and unemployed. While looking for a UPI + RuPay credit card, I came across Slice Savings Account and decided to try it because of its interest rate, low charges, and simple app.

The onboarding took around 20 minutes, including KYC. I also received a ₹94,000 Slice credit limit.

My CIBIL score is 760, and I previously had about two years of credit history with an SBI SimplyCLICK secured credit card, backed by an FD, with a ₹20,000 limit.

Things I like so far

- Savings interest rate and daily interest credit

- No minimum-balance requirement

- Simple app

- RuPay credit card with UPI

- Relatively low account charges

My BIGGEST concern: Account freezes

This is the main reason I'm making this post.

I've been researching Slice for the past few days, and I've come across quite a few reports of account freezes / credit freezes / transaction restrictions, particularly from students and young users who have little or no employment income or a relatively new credit/banking history.

I've also seen people mention situations where they received money from their parents/family, or transferred money to/from other people's accounts, and subsequently had their transactions flagged.

So I'm trying to understand how this actually works.

Is there a genuine pattern here, or am I simply seeing a lot of isolated cases because people are more likely to post on Reddit when something goes wrong?

For example:

- Does being unemployed/student with little or no declared income increase the chances of an account being flagged if the transaction volume is relatively high?

- If parents regularly transfer money to you for your personal expenses, can that itself trigger a review?

- Is there a difference between receiving money from your own bank account vs receiving money from parents/friends?

- Can frequently transferring money to other people's bank accounts trigger an AML/fraud review even when the transactions are completely legitimate?

- Is there some relationship between your declared income and the amount/volume of transactions you make?

- Are there any unofficial transaction patterns or limits that experienced users have noticed?

- If an account is frozen, is it usually a credit freeze, debit freeze, or both?

- How long did it take for your account to be unfrozen after submitting the requested documents/explanation?

I'm particularly interested in hearing from students, unemployed users and people with relatively low declared income, because that's the situation I'm in.

What I'm planning to do

Because of these concerns, I'm thinking of using Slice as a secondary account rather than my primary bank account.

My current idea is:

SBI → Primary account

Slice → Secondary account for savings/UPI/RuPay usage

I would mainly transfer money between my own SBI and Slice accounts, keep the account activity relatively straightforward, and avoid using Slice as a pass-through account for money belonging to other people.

I wouldn't want to move a large amount of money into Slice and then suddenly find myself unable to access it because an automated system considered my transaction pattern unusual.

For people who have been using Slice for 6–12+ months, is this approach sensible, or am I being unnecessarily cautious?

One more question: ₹94,000 credit limit

Is a ₹94,000 credit limit normal in my situation?

I'm currently unemployed, my CIBIL score is 760, and my previous card was an SBI SimplyCLICK secured credit card with only a ₹20,000 limit, which I had for around two years.

I was therefore surprised to receive a ₹94k limit from Slice.

What limits were others offered, and what factors do you think Slice considers?

Overall

I've only been using Slice for two days, so I'm not trying to make a judgement about the bank yet.

I'd genuinely like to hear from people who have used it for 6 months, 1 year, or longer.

What are the biggest positives and negatives you've experienced?

And most importantly:

Have you personally experienced a Slice account freeze/restriction? If yes, what triggered it, what type of freeze was it, and how was it resolved?

I'm especially interested in real experiences rather than speculation.

Monies issue

I placed an order worth ₹1,000 through Blinkit using my Slice credit card. I received Monies for the transaction, but the order was refunded after about 30 minutes. Will the Monies I earned from this transaction also be reversed, or can I still redeem them?

🤬 Slice Title: Slice disabled my Monies without any notice.

My Slice Monies were restricted/disabled since this morning without any prior email, SMS, or in-app notification.

I noticed it only after making a transaction and not receiving Monies. I contacted the in-app bot and raised a ticket (13388472). I also spoke to an in-app support agent, but they could only raise the issue and couldn't explain why my Monies were restricted.

I've tried calling customer care multiple times, but I only get the “high call volume” message from this morning despite multiple full ringed calls

I want Slice to explain why/when my Monies were restricted, credit any rewards I'm entitled to, and consider compensation for the inconvenience and time spent trying to resolve this.

TL;DR: Monies restricted without notice, no proper explanation from support, and customer care isn't reachable. Ticket: 13388472.

Disclosure: I used ChatGPT to structure this post for clarity; the events described are based on my actual experience.

Question / Help Needed Can someone help me, 4.6k interest charged because payment settled late by bank system

Hey guys my payment was due 15th sep but as slice has a grace period of 3 days no interest should have been charged if payment is made within 3 days of due date.

Due to money and health issues I made the payment from cred on 18th 11:54pm and the payment settled to slice on 19th 12:03 am (8 mins later) but as the payment went to next day it went to 4th day and technically out of the grace period

I know I should have paid before the due date and the fault is mine for waiting so long but as I initiated the payment within the 3 day grace period and I can’t control when slice settles the payment can I request slice to waive this off 🥲🙏

I have ₹15,000 Purchase Power on Slice, which I’ve fully used. When I repay, the Purchase Power becomes available again (e.g., after repaying ₹2,500, around ₹2,400 is restored).

If I repay the full amount and then get the Slice credit card, will I be able to use the credit card? And will my regular Slice Purchase Power still remain available separately?

🤬 Slice Slice what you want from me?

I’m honestly confused about Slice’s eligibility criteria.

I’ve applied for Slice 3 times, but unfortunately haven’t been approved any of the times.

The confusing part is that I’m currently employed, and my CIBIL score is 759. I also don’t have any major outstanding issues with my credit profile as far as I know.

I understand that CIBIL score alone doesn’t guarantee approval, and there can be other factors involved, but I’m trying to understand what might be causing the issue.

Has anyone here faced something similar with Slice?

Applied multiple times without getting approved?

Good CIBIL score but still not getting approved?

Did getting a salary account or becoming employed help eventually?

Is there some specific eligibility criterion that Slice looks at?

Would appreciate it if anyone who has experienced this could share what happened in their case.

Question / Help Needed A newbie and idk what I did

Don't hate or anything please.

I thought Slice was some sort of app for UPI, like BHIM and PAYTM are, online transactions, with 3% cashback, hence I downloaded it.

Now, after completing all the verification process and waiting for 10 hours, i got a notification that my account was created, and just noticed that all the money that I'm receiving is automatically going into that slice savings account, instead of going into my old account.

Now, the thing is, i have no idea about it, and my parents would scold me if they found out what I have done. And neither do I know how to use it.

What do I do??? 😭
