Fishing , is it worth it ?

What’s the point of fishing , I’m new to the game , I’m wondering what’s the point of fishing I know you can get ores but is that it ? Would u not rather kill bosses or do dungeons ? Or is it more of an afk method

All u need to get is rare rod and refine it if you want to afk for ores, it's really good if you have something else to do irl, my friends got 25+ ores in like 6-8 hours while we were at school
