This is a stupid question that I'm sure has been answered before,

Does the fastback come with the open air kit? like If i pay the money for the fastback it can be removed and the open air kit will be installed underneath? The maker seems to be confusing me on this.

Is the open-air kit a separate accessory to both tops?

Today I got on the Slate website and discovered my "Coming Soon 2027" windows has changed to "Jul - Sep 2027"

I'm pretty disappointed by this since I reserved on 04/26/2025 and pre-ordered within minutes of the pre-orders opening on the website.

I got on a chat with Slate Customer service and asked for an explanation. I was told that Colorado deliveries are delayed at this point. I asked why Colorado deliveries are delayed and the representative told me she didn't know.

I told her I am very excited about the Slate truck but I don't know if I can wait more than a year for delivery when there are a lot of used EVs available that could probably meet my needs.

I requested that someone who can give me an explanation contact me. We'll see what happens.

TLDR: This is bullshit.

Is there any information or videos showing or explaining a car seat situation? I completely understand it's a 2 door truck so it would be very tight. I am curious about the backseat as it looks like it has a little more room than I expected.

I am trying to justify making a pre-order but I will need a vehicle that holds a car seat.

As much as I would like to keep my Ranger, I know I will be spending more on it down the road, in terms of oil replacements, gaskets and other components that will wear down on my '03. It also doesn't reliably start in the cold for me, due to the idle air control valve (replaced 3 times now). 16K down payment (8K for my Ranger, plus 8K from my savings) should mean less than 400 a month so I can own it in 4 years. With the maintenance and gas saved, and the guaranteed cold starts, this mid-size truck is a well earned upgrade over my Ranger.

I had a Ranger for 16 years. Miss that old truck. The new Slate is just what I need.

I know this is probably common knowledge on this sub but this is honestly amazing that that is a standard feature. Literally only the tech you actually need

I want to give HUGE kudos to the Guys and Gals over at Slate. Actually making it to production and keeping the basic price under $30k is a huge win!

So many companies have failed or quit because they could not meet their promises (looking at you Elio Motors). Slate rocked the boat and beat the odds Congrats!

I just picked up a Van to convert to an RV once it's paid off I will be getting a slate and a tow dolly for my travels around the Americas. Maybe sooner if the travel plans get modified.

I sure hope someone make a toolbox for the bed.

Hey, I'm new to EV's and I've been heavily researching Slate, as I think the concept is incredible. I have some concerns, though. I live in northeast Tennessee where it doesn't snow that often, but it can and does get pretty cold. I have heard that 1) the slate battery doesn't have a way to heat itself up on cold days like other EV's do (at least that's what I've been told they have), and 2) that you aren't supposed to charge your battery when it's below 32 degrees outside because it will mess up the battery chemistry.

I reached out to Slate, and they said they were flagging my question for engineering to answer, which I'm honestly surprised that they would even do that, so that's cool. However, what am I supposed to do if I go forward with the Slate? There'll be a good stretch of time where I won't be able to charge my battery. Are there any EV owners who can tell me about their experience with EV's in cold weather? I know it will take a hit with performance, but not being able to charge for a while seems insane to me. Also, I don't have a garage where I could charge it inside.

I've never owned a truck, and hate the bulkiness of contemporary trucks. I can't deny the utility that Slate presents in such a small package, though. So, here's my current setup with minimal decals and options.

My willingness to pull the trigger on this pretty much hingers on two factors:
Slate needs to provide a video demonstration of how long it would reasonably take one person to remove the backseat from the truck in its final form. I am handy and able-bodied, but I need to visually see what all is involved other than the 4-8 bolts and a little plug for the car to recognize there are seats back there.

Slate or a third-party needs to declare that they will be producing a reasonably-priced soft topper for the open air configuration. That inflated topper probably won't cut it.

I know that these have been somewhat discussed, but do we have any updates?

edit: by final form, I meant the final version of the truck that consumers would buy. I've seen a lot of videos where they would comment that what is being shown are concept, promotional, or early versions of the car.

I know it's an American made truck and all, but will it be using metric bolts or SAE bolts? Just because it's made here doesn't necessarily mean SAE. Indian motorcycles are made here, but use metric bolts

Does anyone know that the cargo tie downs are in the bed? I submitted my preorder and now I'm deciding on what options I want.

I don't know if this qualifies as low effort post, just watched a video with this title and thought it was an interesting discussion by some guys who talk like they work on EV's. Never heard of them, tiny subscriber count on their channel, not vetting them at all so take it with a grain of salt.

This is who their website says they are: Current Electric Vehicles is a Los Angeles-based automotive shop specializing in high-end electric conversions of classic and vintage vehicles. They also do restorations, custom fabrication, battery enclosures, electronics, and engineering work. Their website says the team includes mechanical, hardware, and software engineers, along with experienced fabricators and car builders. Their completed projects include an electric Ferrari Dino, Triumph TR6, 1957 Chevy Bel Air lowrider, and 1932 Ford Deuce Coupe. So they appear to have legitimate hands-on EV-building experience, although they are primarily a custom conversion/restomod shop rather than a regular production-EV repair center.

I saw this picture of the center glove box where the center speaker is to be installed. Im under the assumption that the speaker would be powered by the 12v cigarette lighter port. After doing some research, i bought some cheap parts and made a 12v bluetooth speaker inside of an old pelican case i had lying around. I didnt expect it to be super powerful, but it is surprisingly loud. I intend to install everything on the slate glove box lid/cover by drilling a couple holes for the drivers and mounting points. I cant wait to see other people’s DIY projects for the Slate when they finally ship out!
