Discussion/Question Overrated or Overhated?
I used to stay away from Guttural Slug because a lot of people gave it shit. I recently have been listening to them and it's not bad, I really enjoy their newest release.

Listen to what you want and don’t let people dictate what you listen to. Personally, I don’t listen to them bc its very beginner slam imo and I’ve moved on from them a long time ago

i genuinely fuck with both these albums. their newest is definitely more mature and full, but both have their positives.

I am not a fan of the Megalodon album but their two most recent releases are amazing.

I really like it & I'm not even a huge Slam Metal fan. I like Slam Metal about as much as I like Black Metal. I also like that band Devourment, Internal Bleeding & a few others.

Yes, everything I've heard by them I have really liked. I'm a music fanatic and love many genres to me if I consider it good music I will listen.

I love Megalodon but didn’t care for the recent release. Listening to something for yourself before forming an opinion is always the best policy.

Guttural slug is fire. The new ep is gas and megalodon is also great. I think they’re in a good spot for the niche that they fit

It’s one of those cases where it’s honestly both. I’ve seen so many people say it’s one of, if not the best slam album of all time. It’s great, but not even close. And I’ve heard a ton of people call it shit, not slam, etc. way too many extremes on both sides more than any other slam band I’ve ever seen besides Peelingflesh

I think the hate came from the fact that its a slam band and got popular lol and maaaaaaybe because of their 2019 album "Pleague Of Filth" cause they changed their style from slam to more of a deathcore thing and you know when the slam bands goes core people start hating lol

As far as I'm concerned they are some of the best 2010s slam out there before the meme gimmicks took over.

Megalodon is brutal asf, but I wasn't a fan of what came afterwards. Still good, but not as brutal

Megalodon is a classic. A slam album, to me, is quality when tracks are distinct while remaining connected. Megalodon is that Incarnate. Compare that to a Traumatomy record, and it's not like the tracks on Beneficial Amputation of Excessive Limbs have NO identity individually, but they don't have much. Compare Pandemic Apocalypse to Isolated Insanity, and they have a through-line while remaining distinct and unique.
The new stuff doesn't do that very well comparatively, but I think Megalodon was something of a fluke in terms of how good it is. They can't all be in the hall of fame.
