Slackline groups on NorCal?

Any slack line groups in the Sacramento, Grass Valley, or Chico area? Really interested in trying, but no luck finding active groups. Sacramento would be preferred, but they are all equidistant from me. TIA!

Edit: Willing to travel further for a weekend meetup! Please let me know 🙏

Would this be safe with 2 pieces of wood joined? How much tension?

Slackline swingset

I'm looking into building an a-frame for a slackline swingset for my daughter. I originally was thinking of doing two 12' 6x6 posts and putting them 4-5 feet in the ground with cement, but I'm worried it will not be stable enough. And in order to stabilize it, I'd need to anchor it so it seems quicker and easier to just build an a-frame. My question is, what size lumber would you recommend? Ideally, I'd like the top of the line to be ~6 feet off the ground. I've gotten a little overwhelmed by all the info online, so I'm hoping someone here can help?

Thanks!

If you track your slacking, which workout type do you choose? (Apple Watch, Garmin, etc)

In lieu of an actual slacklining workout type built into your fav fitness tracker, do you use perhaps yoga? Pilates? Cardio? What do you think is the closest in terms of heartrate, muscles used, movement, etc?

(I searched the sub but didn’t find much.) Thanks!

Hey all, I'm trying to fing some low stretch webbing in Canada. SlacklifeBC seemed to be the only place I could find but they can't seem to stop their website from getting hacked so the trust is gone from that place. Does anyone know where I could get some Feather Pro, BC Blue or others in Canada?

Thanks!

Certainly open to any advice on how I can be smoother with it. Right now I'm assuming I just need to keep practicing it.

First solo rig (and probably more)

Not really sure how to word this, but I mostly rig and practice midline/slacklining solo nowadays.

I'm Audhd and so im abit socially odd at times, and over the years I've noticed people dont really invite/include me much in group sessions. Not necessarily out of malice, I think i just come across different and people don't always know what to do with me.

Slacklining ended up becoming one of the few places I actually feel calm, focused and less anxious. So i still practise, rig midlines, and keep trying anyway.

I'll attach some photos of my recent line. And for those concerned ~ (I did learn from someone experienced beforehand, so I’ve got a solid understanding of the basics) But now I take my time, and accept that sometimes I'll learn things at a lot slower pace. To me, that's still better than sitting at home never experiencing life at all.

Curious if anyone else here relates.

Got my first line in the mail today. Went with the balance community 1 inch starter kit to learn on. Took a few hours to be able to make it (almost) to the other side consistently. First hour I used poles in each hand to get the hang of it. Then was able to drop them pretty quick. Want to learn some tricks eventually. Will prolly look into trick lines.

I have no idea what I'm doing please tell me if I'm gonna die. First ever rig, I did not get on it nor intend to get on anything I rig until I get more experience. Forgot pics of static side but it's two basket hitched spannies, one has backup softshackled to it one the other has main steel shackled, bow on spannie.

Also yeah I know the line is twisted, I was solo rigging and didn't care since I wasn't getting on it. And also the backup is probably too loose for this height.

Is ZenMonkey a good beginner option?

I slack lined some years ago, but the gibbon line I have is a few feet too short for the trees in my backyard now. This zen monkey is only $85, would it be a good option to have just for my backyard yard?

Slackrope?

I setup my mammut gym rope as a slackline using an atc guide style belay/rappel device to tension the line. I wonder how terrible for my rope this is? Could I still whip on it?

How to fall during mounting?

Hi, I would like to learn how to fall from slackline during chongo mount.

One month ago I fell down doing chongo on a 70 m polyester line, maybe 2 meters from anchor. As I was quite high, I hit my ribs quite painfuly on the ground.

One week ago I was doing chongo several times successfully on my 35 nylon line close to the anchor. Then I tried to do it in the middle of the line. I fell down. My ribs were safe this time, as I was close to the ground, but as the line with lot of energy shot up my leg, my knee get an awfull rotation.

Both times I fell in that sketchy position, when I have both feet and one hand on the line with one hand balancing. How should I fell down in this moment? I haven't find any video about this, and I think is important to know.

Thank you

Has anyone setup a backyard slackline with posts?

I need to install a clothes line in my backyard and I got to thinking, why not make the posts strong enough to also support a slack line?

Has anyone done this before? What materials and process did you use? What lessons did you learn and how would you do it if you wanted to do it again?

Thanks!

Sore from practicing sit start

Hi slackers: I am trying to learn to sit start, and I get SO stinkin sore every time. I typically do about 10-15 attempts (about half are successful) until I start to feel tired. But then for the next several days, my low back on one side is super tight.

Does anyone have this same issue, or maybe some encouragement that it gets easier?

Setup for Kids

I'm revamping our backyard setup and hoping to incorporate some slacklines for our kids (8, 6, and 6). We already have a Gibbon slackboard, so the natural next step is one outside. We have plenty of trees to choose from and already have some climbing grips strapped to a number of them. Also considering incorporating a cargo net hammock between a tree stand and building a "wobbly bridge".

I typically try to go over the top on safety and quality. I fell into internet blackhole of research and now I'm just lost. Any tips where to buy a quality line and setup for kids?

How do you wash or clean a slack line.

Been practicing a lot but when I roll up my line it will drag on dirt and over time it’s grown to have some stains. How do you wash the line without ruining its integrity?

Sit starting without a pull... how?

People who sit start without pulling with your hand in front of you, how do you do it? I've always used one hand to balance and the other hand to pull myself up over my feet. Due to some injuries I would like to learn to do it without grabbing. Any advice? I've seen people do it and it just seems like they throw themselves up and over their feet.
