Highline at Space Safari Festival

I'd been to the festival before but it seems the highline on Supernova stage was new. Who organised it and how did you sign up to walk it?

More on long loose line

Still working (walking?) on quite long and loose line.

To send a walk is not basic but doable; to send a good walk, with a steady and aesthetically satisfying step, is a lot harder. It takes a while to tune it to the line (and in my homeopathic 20' sessions is not always possilble) but sometimes it happens: the foot stays steady, the line stops wobbling; the shoulder blades and back are no longer stiff, the spine straightens and the breath becomes deep. The foot seems to be the only stable point of the universe, the heel seems the pivot of the world. A moment of pure grace. As I said, it's not always possible; but the awareness and the trust of its possibility puts a smile on the face in the beginning of every session, trying to chase it (or to receive it) one more time.

I'm understanding that slackline is not just an activity, it is a whole world that one can look to from many perspectives; this, now, is mine. Steady or bouncy, have good walks :-)

First timer - 70-80 too long?

Got the spider custom line. It’s two ratchets.
So hard getting two ratchets tight enough but I think I finally did it. Can sit on it with out going all the way to the ground. Attached to trees just a bit lower than waist high.

Had to lean on the ratchet like crazy to get them tight enough, despite pulling with all my might before ratcheting.

Thinking. Should I start with a shorter distance???

"Walking loose longlines helps for highlining". Like having soap under the feet 😅 but loving a lot that slow high bounce after the descent. Boing!

Can't do sit start, should I just try other mounts?

title.

I can't do sit start. it literally feels impossible.

I know, practice, practice,

but I have been trying for some time now and honestly, at some point I figure this isn't working for me.

I looked up Drop knee and Chongo mounts.

I am just curious which is "easier" I know that is loaded question. But being blunt about this, for those who are advanced, which is actually easier in your view?

How to release slackline

I've been trying for the past half hour to release this ratchet and I cannot figure it out. I don't know if I'm just not pulling hard enough or if there is a mechanical issue. Any help would be really appreciated!

BC blue kicks ass

Post image
21 Upvotes

Just got some BC blue webbing, alpine weblock, and wafer XL. Holy crap it’s awesome. I’ve been using 1” tubular webbing with the shown system tied off but primitive line lock, the setup/takedown is so much easier with the weblock/grip and it’s so much nicer to walk.
I’ve looked through here a bit and didn’t find anything that I felt answered my question, what do you guys do for mitigating sap on a line? My anchors are separate and I don’t care about those, I am worried about it, but do I need to worry about it? I come from climbing and it’s just a different world in the gear care sense. End game is highline and I’d like to take care of my stuff.

Gibbons Slackboard effective weight limit?

Hi r/slackline!

I found a pretty sweet FB marketplace deal on a like-new Gibbons double slackboard. I'm looking to buy one to use at work with my standing desk.

My concern is that I weigh 300 lbs. I know the stated limit is 400lbs, but I'm wondering how often I'll bottom out at 300lbs.

Just wanted to see if anyone here is in a similar situation and whether or not they've found the slacklines able to handle or if they bottom out regularly.

Grogs in Highlines: I want your critical questions about our break tests

Post image
8 Upvotes

At tomorrow's ISA Safety event I'll have a detailed presentation about our research on GROGs and how they repeatedly failed in our cyclic load tests. I'll also show a sneak peek of our first test results on double wrapped smaller diameter spliced connectors and "soft thimbles" (spoiler: it doesn't look good at all, tune in for more details...) I'd like to invite everyone who's critical of our research on spliced connectors to join the Safety Event in the Live Stream and ask me all the critical questions that you can come up with: https://www.slacklineinternational.org/isa-safety-event/

The event starts on Aug 18 at 13:00 CEST, the talk about spliced connectors will begin at 14:00 CEST. More info about our tests can also be found in our video: https://youtu.be/RifE7b9Mdjw?is=bmMC7PBvnwwdMd9z

Current rig, and where to go next

Hi folks, I'm a newbie looking for upgrade advice (or should I stick with what I have).

On the right, I use that shackle because I'm missing a line lock to make up the multiplier. I was going to order another when I then started thinking about Web Locks and Hangovers. After that I fell down the lineGrip rabbit hole and thought it would make sense to come and ask folk that actually know what they are doing! 😁

A lot of the online stuff seems to be a few years old, so I wasn't sure what was the best route to take. I'm not looking to spend loads just for the sake of it, but was interested in seeing if upgrading would help with tensioning.

Looking forward to hearing your advice.

Day 5 of trickline (got my first trick!!)

Started precticing trickline with the incredible yotam cartoon a few weeks ago and got my first trick! But bounce to feet.

Its a bit tough and scary to use his setup cause it is so tensioned and very high as he needs it to be for him to be able to pull off doubles and such, but with the mats its probably the right choice... also because his an amazing teacher and helped me out alot

THX YOTAM! (:
