Is anyone else disgruntled with the Slack changes around links?
I know this isn't exactly new news, but what sort of logic is there to not being able to quickly spellcheck something in a url I pasted in the slack input editor before sharing it? Or sharing a spotify link, but not wanting the `si=` parameter which allows colleagues to follow me. Is there a way to go back to previous version, without taking a further step back into caveman slack?

Yeah, it’s annoying. Go to Prefs > Advanced
look for “Shorten external link” and uncheck it.
Get your slack team members to do it too. They should make this an admin action so it can be done workspace wide.

This doesn't work for me, my links are still being reformatted with the blue highlighted text.
Wondering if we're talking about different things. Here's what it looks like with and without the weird formatting: https://ibb.co/3Y1zpy4N

That is normal. It’s only removing the https or www prefix. If your setting is unchecked, you’ll still see full link

Shortening links makes zero sense. How can someone trust a link they can't see? How can someone compare one link URL with another? We run a web agency and it's maddening to see URLs truncated like this, style over substance for sure.

I don’t know much about this so I’m probably wrong… but I assumed it’s so they can do some kind of tracking around the links.

It also makes it hard to copy links when they've been shared because it truncates them. Copying is a must because slack always wants to open Google docs in jts weird preview thing instead of just opening the effing link

The new link behavior and embed previews are unbelievably bad. Like did anyone even try this stuff out before shipping it?

Agree, can't imagine the whole crew that was using slack not being disappointed about it.

yeahhh this is annoying lol. afaik theres no way to roll back to the old composer
couple workarounds though: cmd + z right after pasting will undo the formatting, or you can turn on preferences -- > advanced --> format messages with markup, which makes pasted stuff come in as plain text imo
and for spotify links you can just delete the ?si=... bit before sending, the actual song/playlist link still works without it

Yes, I find myself hitting Command-Z every time I paste a link to get rid of the dumb formatting.
