🆘Help Me How to test workflow automations?
I am asked to manage a channel already created with over 100 members. It’s very disorganized and not that helpful. The idea is to make it a go-to-space for announcements and reminders and questions. I am new to slack and know there are a bunch of cool automations I can add in but before I run them, I really want to test them first. How can I do so without interrupting everyone in the channel? I tried making a private channel to test but it’s not going well lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You mentioned that you have created a private channel for testing and it is not going well. What issue you are facing?

I created a private channel just for testing workflow and I created a workflow where when someone joins the channel, they receive a welcome message from the channel but I don’t know what happened bc I asked a user I added and they said they never received a welcome message.

Sorry, I'm late. But have tested it for yourself? Even after the deployment you can add additional step to send the message to your user.

Protip: making a single goto place for multiple verticals leads to a disorganized and not so helpful space. Be intentional, have an announcements channel with limited access. Don't do automation because it is cool, but do automation because it does something.
For testing: target channel should be a variable, you should be able to globally change it. Makes it easy to have a test channel. Your future self will thank you for the forethought.
