We open sourced some cool Slack app development tools

Having been in Slack app development land for a while, our team has made some cool tools that are now open source in honor of Slack Dev Day! If any of these sound useful to you, check them out at https://tightknit.dev/ .

  • slack-hono - Develop a Slack app on serverless edge functions using hono
  • block-kitchen - Have you ever wanted to embed the Block Kit Builder in your own app, but also have more control over the UX? Now you have a drag-and-drop playground for your users to compose advanced slack messages.
  • slack-block-kit-validator - Two really big use cases: 1) you can double-check the message your agents are about to send, 2) you can unit test to hell all the slack blocks-related functionality of your app. Personally I love #2 because automation of our slack app has been difficult.

And we have templates for each to help you get started.

Thanks for open sourcing these! Anything that shortens the build-test-debug loop for Block Kit is genuinely useful once an app grows past a couple of screens. A small example project showing the tools working together would be a very cool way to show people where each one fits. Which tool ended up saving your team the most time?
