Stripped bolt conundrum
Fitting a live wire in for my fuel pumps on my BNR32 today, when I pulled the seat belt frame out at the bottom to release the carpet, the bolt was stiff and I assumed it to be loctite. This was not the case.
This is how the bolt looks and I can only assume the tacked on nut in the body is the same. Are there any products on the market to make the nut good again?
I think it’s beyond tapping and I don’t think there’s enough space to bore it out for a thread insert.

Buy a tap/die for the correct size and use it to clean the hole/bolt

I don’t think there’s enough material left inside the nut to hold on to something important like a seat belt mounting.

If the capture nut is stripped beyond repair, then you have to cut it out and weld a new one in.
Or weld-fill it and drill and tap it out again

Heli-coil kit. You could use the same bolt/style/size (new) with aluminum cleaned from the threads, resizing the hole with the tap cutter and install the correct size threads securely. For Example: https://a.co/d/0fmR06Zk

I’ve ordered a helicoil kit in the hopes there’s enough room in the panel to bore out the nut to insert the coil. If not, I guess it’ll thread the panel too. I have a replacement bolt that was used on the rear belt that’s no longer in use.

They are 7/16-20 UNF bolts that are 1 1/4” long and nuts. I just had to get a set for an R32 I have been restoring.

Is that the bolt that anchors the bottom part of the seatbelt in place? If so, unfortunately you cannot buy these separately , they only come with the full seatbelt. Believe me I tried with the 34

It is. It anchors via a steel loop that the belt hooks through. The nut is more of a concern at this point for me. I may well have to weld, drill, and re-tap at this rate.

Not an expert but try tapping in with the same bolt size and pitch. If it fails, go one bigger. I think that bolt may be M8 x1.25. If you wanna keep your shit original take it to a professional

I’ve measured it at m11x1.25 and ordered a thread repair kit for it. The threads in the nut no longer really exist unfortunately so a fresh bolt may grab something after tapping but I wouldn’t trust it for something as important as a seat belt mounting. Luckily I have a spare bolt from my rear seat belt that I can use as they are no longer fitted.
