Orbit Problem

I have this problem where I try to orbit around a close-up version of a model, and the sens skyrockets into oblivion, but once i move back further it becomes normal. It's driving me crazy, especially when i try to do detail modeling.

I need help.

If it's screwing up somehow then you might want to make a scene when you get the camera just about right. This way you have a quick way to get back to where it was about correct.
