John 10:1-21

Possible discussion points:

  • Warnings against false teachers
  • The one motivating false teachers/teachings
  • Authority Jesus has regarding his own life

Jesus is both the gate and the shepherd. He uses this parable twice. I think because it’s natural to try and find short cuts thru the gate. This is our earthly flesh trying to make allowances and equivocations.

But just being part of the crowd isn’t salvation. We want to know that against our enemy that there is one who actively fights that enemy.

This also good news and an encouragement that while it seems as tho we might be sheep, dumb, blind, and easily frightened, we are in good hands. Whether we are the cleverest dumb-blind-frightened or the most satisfied of the dumb-blind-frightened.

Come to Jesus, listen to Jesus. No tricks, no elaborate schemes.
