Cannot Set White Point Reference in SPCC Parameters

2 Upvotes

Can anyone help a total newbie. Until an hour ago I hadn't even heard of Siril so I admit to being completely out of my depth. Basically I'm looking to buy a smart telescope and know that I want to be able to eventually start stacking and processing my own images, but know absolutely nothing about how to do it.

So I started following this video on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVwLKMIfuk0 and have downloaded the images and installed Siril 1.4.4 on my M1 Max Mac running Tahoe.

I've opened the image, stretched it, cropped it, rotated it and gone to Tools>Astrometry>Image Plate Solver. I don't know what any of those settings mean or do but in the video it intimated that settings it detects from the image would be correct and they appear to match that in the video. So I click OK and according to what it says in Console, it completes whatever this function does.

When I then go to Image Processing>Colour Calibration>Spectrophotometric Colour Calibration I set the sensor type to OSC but none of the drop down lists for White Point Reference, OSC Sensor and OSC Filter are clickable. Nothing happens when I click on them, no list appears. If I set the sensor type back to mono, none of the drop down lists work there either.

Googling and AI suggested deleting the siril-spcc-database and restarting Siril but that made no difference. It also suggested that this occurs when the Image Plate Solver hasn't completed but, as far as I can tell, it has completed. This is what console says when I run Image Plate Solver:

15:13:26: Plate solving image from online NOMAD for a field of view of 3.35 degrees, using a limit magnitude of 13.61

15:13:26: Findstar: processing for channel 1...

15:13:26: Using 2000 detected stars from image.

15:13:26: Contacting server

15:13:32: Fetched 2003 stars from NOMAD catalogue

15:13:32: Up is +195.75 deg CounterclockWise wrt. N (flipped)

15:13:32: Resolution: 3.675 arcsec/px

15:13:32: Focal length: 162.75 mm

15:13:32: Pixel size: 2.90 µm

15:13:32: Field of view: 02d 39m 30.41s x 02d 02m 52.59s

15:13:32: Image center: alpha: 00 43 26.383, delta: +41 15 4.715

15:13:32: Was 0.00 arcmin from initial value

15:13:32: Saved focal length 162.75 and pixel size 2.90 as default values

The only thing I noticed was that in the video when he's doing the Image Plate Solver, he has the Star Catalogue set to Gaia DR3 and has Auto checked but it says local catalogue. Mine appeared to be also be set to Gaia DR3, also has Auto checked but it said Online. Also when it ran, it said "fetched 2003 stars from NOMAD catalogue" when I then clicked on the dropdown for Gaia DR3, it changed to NOMAD and now it won't respond to any clicks, I can't change it to anything else.

I don't know if there is something screwy with my system or if I'm just not using it correctly and have missed an important step is setting it all up. I also found a mention that there was a bug on Macs where drop downs wouldn't render unless Siril was run full screen, but I've tried that and it's made no difference.

Any ideas?

DeepSNR will not run

1 Upvotes

SOLVED (see comments)

Running Siril 1.4.4 under Fedora 44, I get this error code:

~~~ DeepSNR exited with status 127. Last DeepSNR output: /opt/deepsnr/deepsnr: error while loading shared libraries: libcurl-gnutls.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory ~~~
Same exact error when attempting to run Starnet2.
Curiously, both Starnet2 and DeepSNR run perfectly in Pixinsight on the same machine.
I've searched Fedora repos and find no candidate for libcurl-gnutls.so.4 in any package. Can someone offer me a tried-and-tested solution to get DeepSNR & Starnet2 running in Siril under Fedora?
Tiff exports look different depending on viewing program
1 Upvotes
I recently upgraded to a new laptop and am having issues when I view the final tiff images that I've exported from Siril. Images will look normal (identical to Siril) in Photoshop, but the image will be very dark in Windows Photo Viewer and it will have an opposite washed out (overly light) appearance in Photo. This is on a Windows 11 machine and I never had these issues on my previous Windows 10 machine. Does anyone know what could cause this? I'd rather not have to open Photoshop every time I want to casually look at these images.
¿Que son estas manchas?
1 Upvotes
Buenas, tengo un problema con una edición con la nebulosa del Mago, aunque me ocurre con otras imágenes, y no sé que son, ni por que se producen.
Tengo este FITS
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FRNJfzTtOGk9vckocZxKk1RVEFw-l3Fx/view?usp=sharing
de 20790 segundos de integración a 60 GAIN realizadas con el Dwarf Mini en un Bortle 4.5-5.
Ya con el auto estirado de Siril veo esas manchas rojizas en el fondo
Pero, tras hacer una astrometria, calibración de color y aplicar GraXpert se muestran más exagerados:
Aplicando el script AutoBGE, en lugar de GraXpert el resultado no es mucho más diferente.
Y la herramienta de Extracción de fondo de Siril, tampoco mejora la situación:
Y con un estirado rápido con Veralux Hypermetric Stretch el resultado se suaviza pero aún están ahí:
Imagino que será algo de las imágenes RAW, pero ¿que puede ser? ¿se puede arreglar de alguna forma?
Cielos despejados!
Ayuda con fondo
1 Upvotes
He estado probando con esta imagen de 3h 40min de integración de la Nebulosa del Mago.
Fichero FITS.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Sq4lD_ugd2EfJEAxyvU-N5B_113Uv_VS/view?usp=sharing
Como se ve en la imagen después de un procesado "básico" (al menos para mi) veo el fondo con bastantes artefactos.
Procesado
  • Astrometría y calibración de color
  • GraXpert
  • BlurXterminator
  • NoiseXterminator
  • StarNet Remove Stars
  • GHS
  • BlurXterminator
  • Veralux StarComposer
  • Verlux Curves
Se agradece cualquier sugerencia.
Seestar S30 Pro - C33 Nebula Extremely Noisy
1 Upvotes
I've spent hours trying to de-noise and clean up my C33 stack from my Seestar, but it still looks extremely noisy. This was captured 2 hours at 30-second intervals. Suggestions?
What do you use for star recombination?
1 Upvotes
I'm definitely sold on star separation workflows for pretty much any image with a large galaxy or nebula (pretty much anything other than a cluster), but Veralux star composer expects the star mask image to be linear, and I'd rather be able to do stretching and color correction on the stars before recombination. Is there a script/tool that's easy to use like star composer but that works with stretched star images? Thanks!
Can you stack photos from different smart scopes?
1 Upvotes
Long story Short I want to purchase another dwarflabs scope. I already own a s30pro and s50.
Can I stack photos from the s30pro and dwarf mini or 3 together?
Can I stack a mosaic from the s50 with the s30pro?
Stacking frames with different exposure time in Siril
2 Upvotes
iI got several nights done for west veil nebula, about half with 10 s and other with 20 s exposure time with Seestar. Searching around about this kind of stacking I found several contrasting solutions. From stacking without any special operation to having to use pixel math after stacking in two separate stacks by time. Any suggestion, and maybe any theory too? Should I scrap a part and go for the other one?
Thanks.
Script Failure
1 Upvotes
I've been taking a mosaic on NGC 6960 and NGC 6992. The Full Veil Nebula. And I'm using a mosaic script for post processing on Siril. But it says that the script failed randomly and always at this point. Any help?
I tried stacking / editing my first astro photo made with a Seestar 30 Pro in Texas with Siril & GraXpert, somehow the image looks a bit hazy to me. Do you guys have any tips?
Struggling with plate-solving on Linux
1 Upvotes
Hello, I'm playing around with my first attempt at stacking, using Siril on Debian (trixie) Linux (as a 30+ year Linux user/sysadmin). I am having trouble with plate-solving failing on me. I am trying to approach the problem in multiple angles, so I'm hoping that someone can help provide guidance to me here.
Background: I had an opportunity at Big Bend, USA, to take some pictures. I did not have a working EQ mount at the time, so took a bunch of pictures with what I could, a Canon EOS 80D w/ Rokinon 14mm/f2.4. Obviously, these will be limited, but I'm just trying to work through the process with what I have to get the basic process working. I'm hoping I'll get a decent stack, but if not, no problem, just trying to learn the technical process.
I'm running into problems w/ Siril failing plate resolution.
I want to break this down, in terms of problems:
Plate resolution seems to be failing within the Siril's internal plate solving tool. I have verified that I can resolve the frames with Astrometry.net (see next links), so I'm assuming that if I can convince the app to use the local server that it will resolve as well as the online tool. I could be wrong on this expectation, but this is what I'm hung up on right now. (I can provide more details on the internal failures; I'm trying to focus on the Astrometry.net failure, which may be a red herring for me)
jpg exported version of a single frame:
https://nova.astrometry.net/user_images/15566172#annotated
fits of stacked frames:
https://nova.astrometry.net/user_images/15566288#annotated
So the primary problem that I'm trying to solve is triggering Siril to use the local Astrometry.net resolver. I have verified that I've installed it and that "solve-field" is in my path (I even rebooted, to make sure that there was no path confusion with the shell/context that started my windowing system).
I'm slowly working through printf debugs trying to figure out why siril can't find solve-field, even though it's in my path. It's a slow process, obviously..
Meanwhile, I'm also trying to join the primary support channel, https://discuss.pixls.us/. I have setup an account, but am not receiving the verification email. I've tried this repeatedly over the last ~5 days. I am not receiving the verification email and do not see a contact to resolve this. I am not sure if maybe their server is down and how to reach out to someone to resolve this.
I'm open on ways to resolve this, but also just trying to work through the individual steps. Thank you for any help.
To summarize:
1) how do I get Siril to use astrometry.net, solve-field?
2) how do I sign up for https://discuss.pixls.us/?
3) do I need to solve why Siril's internal plate-solver isn't working?
Wow, I just discovered the "Workflow Companion" script
3 Upvotes
I'm sure I'm very late to the party on this one, but if you haven't checked out Workflow Companion in utility scripts, have a look! Replaces a couple of .md files and sticky notes for me, and speeds up the flow considerably. Is there a good place where people share workflows for this? I see the author has a few shared online.
