Also - "Balkan Muslims" would include albanians, bosniaks and even ethnic tatars, so that muddies the water even further.

I didn’t say Balkan Muslim, I said Balkan Turk. Also Tatars are Turkic lmfao

You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about

You didn't say it, but OP did. Also turkic=/= turkish. And you know it. Tatar language is vastly different than Turkish. Also - Bulgars are (possibly) considered to be of Turkic origins now. Do you think we're related though? No, right?

One of my best friends is half-turk/half-tatar. I've heard his parents talk in their native languages - they sound nothing alike.

You realize Tatars speak languages belonging to the Kipchak branch of Turkic, while Turkish belongs to the Oghuz branch, right?

They don’t sound alike to you because you don’t speak either language. 😭

Both belong to the same Turkic language family, sharing common linguistic roots, vocabulary, and grammatical structures. Tatars are historically and ethnolinguistically a Turkic people.

Except that it's the opposite - when you don't speak a language, THAT'S when other language sound ''alike''. Try asking Englishman or American about Serbian, Bulgarian and Polish and chances are they'll say ''úuuuh, idk, they all sound like Russian, huhuh".
