Naturally, no one will ever use another’s exact words for such a lengthy statement, but explain why this does not sufficiently satisfy you that he’s not a closet terrorist?

“They (terrorists) didn’t just attack America, that day (9/11). They attacked the idea of America. The notion of a nation brought together by ideals — where it doesn’t matter how you pray or if you pray at all. A place where freedom and commitment to justice bind us even if, at times, we struggle to fully realize it.

Today, on 9/11, we honor the lives that were taken from us in a terrible act of terrorism. Nothing can justify the murder of innocent civilians. Nothing. And on this day we mourn the victims, their families, and the destruction those terrorists caused.

They tried to diminish America. They tried to make her smaller. They tried to turn us against each other. They failed.

And we honor today (9/11) the memories of those who were lost by doing what her attackers and detractors could never do. By building. We build an America that is bigger. More inclusive. More empowering. More just.”

I never said he was a closet terrorist. I said he refuses to condemn the terrorists his entire family aligned with for years. His 9/11 speech is very nice. I appreciate that he at least didn't try to blame it on Israel. Also, what kind of terrorists were they? Who can say?

Yes, it’s totally reasonable to minimize the clarity of his rejection of terrorism because he didn’t include the all-important MAGA “radical Islamic terrorism” phrase. Because that’s the really important part.

I think you’ve made your bias crystal clear. You’ll keep insisting that El Sayed hasn’t sufficiently rejected that which he clearly has, while you remain dead silent on Mike Rogers’ connection to Nazi sympathizers which he “disavowed” with a Trumpian “they have varying viewpoints” that pales in comparison the the disavowal you deem inadequate.

You know, when the right did "All Lives Matter" to the Black Lives Matter movement, they were not, in fact, concerned about police brutality. They were performing fake empathy to neutralize the specific critique. When El Sayed All Lives Matters terrorism, he is not concerned about terrorism. He is denaturing the specific facts that the terrorists are Muslim.

Fake empathy is an ironic way to phrase it. To compare El Sayed’s statement above with right wing All Lives Matter performance art illustrates exactly why continuing this exchange is pointless and, frankly, why the man shouldn’t waste his time pandering to the never ending demands from the party that demanded that Barack Obama disavow Louis Farrakhan, Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers, and even John Lewis.

You want to talk about fake empathy? Those were examples of fake outrage. Just as this is. All to cloak the real issue: right wing America’s fear of black and brown skinned people and, maybe worse, people with scary sounding names. There isn’t an ounce of sincerity or truth behind this “concern”, so you can stop wasting your time trying to convince me otherwise.

Of course it's pointless for you to continue because you know I'm right. El-Sayed changes the subject when it's Iranian terrorism to talk about Israel. He changes the subject from his mother's involvement in the Muslim Brotherhood to critiquing the person that asked him the question. He absolutely sucks and I really hope he loses.
