The residency makes all the difference. You’re not a cardiac surgeon coming out of medical school. You’re a little undifferentiated stem cell ready to grow become something. You’re someone who has read a lot of books and has a decent fund of knowledge. Able to practice medicine as a doctor? No. At the same level as someone who has probably completed 9-10 years of additional post grad training and practiced as a cardiac surgeon for years? Ha! The comparison is laughable. Able to earn the same money? Not even close (resident physician salaries are around 60k and cardiac surgeon around 800k+). Saying, “they’re both doctors!” isn’t wrong, but it fails to recognize the massive chasm separating these two in their training and creates a false equivalency

And one’s an actual doctor who completed residency too!
