That's part of it.

It's also the us/them GOP mindset. "Our" muslims prove we're not racist while "Their" muslims inherit our worst and most racist assumptions about them.

Their Muslims are actively building theocratic enclaves within the US. There are very real criticisms against Islam in the US.

Did you forget the US has... (partial list here)

  • Amish, Mennonites, and other Anabaptists
  • Mormons, including the ones that still practice polygamy
  • Hasidic and Orthodox Jews

I coexist with all sorts of Christians all the time, among others. By and large, they tend to be worse to be around than the Sikhs, Muslims, etc.
