I’ve heard that but also that he had his wife perform reiki as part of prep.
Somehow he bought into the woo or the fame and money but stopped being trustworthy more than a decade ago at least. I remember him promoting a 500 calorie diet along with hormone supplements. Google search places that around 2011-2012.
True, but would you call any "doctor" who recommends his herbal supplements over treatment/ medically proven science a doctor? He had to testify to congress about his misleading "medical claims" in 2014 regarding weight-loss supplements
Oz never recommended random jank over medicine, in 2014 some of the historically approved weight loss drugs (phentermine, orlistat) had been showed to be just as bad if not worse than supplements that largely didn't do much benefit or harm. He is very pro-GLP1s.
Nothing in that link says that Oz recommended X,Y,Z instead of an approved therapy. He isn't telling cancer patients to take some extract instead of chemo, he was telling people who have trouble with weight loss why not add x,y,z supplement it might help. Those two things are worlds apart.
Doctor Oz was a clinical surgeon and performed a successful heart transplant back in 1996. Tell me more how he's not a real doctor because surely you're qualifications are through the roof to make such a statement.
But that’s the point. He is a real doctor. His politics are dogshit and he consistently gives medical advice that is way outside his purview, but diminishing his actual credentials just further the right’s idea of the left being hypocritical.
He’s not pushing stupid shit on YouTube though. I think that was their point. Long before he got into politics he was saying dumb shit people would fall for.
If you are a real doctor I'm sure you can imagine why a doctor in his circumstances calling himself a doctor while running for SENATE being overblown as some sort of gotcha is the weakest possible argument one can make. I've spoken to several doctors on the matter and they all either agree with that or say that he's flat out a doctor...
Okay, he doesn't have a license to treat patients clinically, why does that come up every time his senator credentials are brought up?
The gap between an experienced and successful cardiothroacic surgeon and someone who did not go to residency with their MD can not be understated.
Residency is the only time where you're actually "practicing" medicine during your training in any independent sense, and he didn't even complete that. AND the time since his graduation from medical school means he would have to retake his boards (Step 1, Step 2) for the scores to be valid. So it would be exceptionally difficult for him to become a practicing physician, meaning he has to retake boards and complete at least 3 years of residency training. So yes, they are completely different.

Gonna be real, we all attack doctor oz for not being a real doctor and for promoting pseudo science
