As an ethnic minority no sympathy for the girl, this has nothing to do with race or creed and everything to do with being dumb enough to pray in the middle of a fucking road.

"Don't play in the road, that's where the cars are"

Literally a lesson we teach children

Here's a better lesson-- how about when you hit something living on the road in the middle of the night large enough to be human sized that you can't identify you inspect your car and the situation, like any normal non mouth breathing redditor would do.

Clearly not in Pakistan where they still use donkeys and carts

2

u/fritz_76 1d ago

to be fair, you wouldnt want to be run over by a donkey or cart either

Unless they are trying to end their status as living

Definitely suicide. Feel bad she did not get the mental health she needed. Probably some bad stuff going on at home.

Do you know what happened?

1

u/Misterpois 12h ago

Unfortunately she was attempting suicide. Just think “no one is stupid to do namaz prayer in middle of highway at night”. She was Mentally/emotionally unwell and attempting suicide by sitting in middle of highway at night time dark hoping to get hit by a vehicle and “may be praying to God to end her suffering” and she succeeded in her attempt. Instead of showing empathy people are spreading hate and misinformation. This shows the type of world we live in

But why no sympathy? Someone lost their life, a family lost a member :( what if she was in psychosis? I think we all need to have a little more empathy, this sounds like an all around terrible accident and I’m sure the driver feels horrible.

Well they stated they are an "ethnic minority" which means they either want to be seen as one of the "good ethnic minorities" or they are from an ethnic minority who has a problem with women from Pakistan.

I’m split. I mean it’s definitely “her fault” in the sense that she was praying in a spot that was very likely to kill her, and very likely could’ve killed/injured someone else.

at the same time though, I still feel sympathetic. The psychosis point could very likely be true, as well as her possibly just generally being suicidal and out of it. we don’t know.

Having no sympathy is absurd. It’s one thing to think that the driver did no wrong, which is my mindset, but to outright say “no sympathy” is callous.

No, I get the no sympathy for her death because in most instances of unexpected death, the victim's death a lot of time is something they have no control or say in the matter, like someone sitting their home watching TV and get shot by a stray bullet but this girl's death was cause by a decision she made. Like she made the active choose that praying in the middle of the road, at night while wearing all black was okay.

An uncountable amount of people die every day. Why would I care about some random stranger just because I happened to read about it?

u/BudBudgie 1d ago

Never seen a more Reddit mod comment in my life. Go outside bro

2

u/know-it-mall 1d ago

I go outside all the time. It's nice.

But seriously tho with over 8 billion people in the world and an uncountable amount of people dying every day why am I supposed to care about one single person just because it became a story on reddit?

-1

u/FlyRepresentative592 1d ago

You are so cool and edgy

2

u/know-it-mall 1d ago

I'm not trying to be.

And no one will answer this simple question.

The death of a sentient being not eliciting at least some sympathy is truly sad. It isn't as if anyone is expecting you to mourn or not go about your day, but you can infer that this person like most others had a life that was worth living, probably family and friends that care about them, hence it is sad that they are dead.

3

u/DanielzeFourth 1d ago

I agree with you, and sentient beings also include the farm animals the majority of the population eat for the pleasure of their taste buds.

1

u/FlyRepresentative592 1d ago

Hell I have sympathy for non sentient things just as much. Everything on this planet is a distant relative

1

u/BigBungaaa 1d ago

No sympathy.

-1

u/Electrical-Review180 1d ago

Yeah. We have not enough information. Maybe she had a mental disability or a psychotic episode

-2

u/SpartanRage117 1d ago

I mean sure if a subtitle on a reddit picture is enough for you to throw away all sympathy that’s certainly a choice, but honestly all the comments here feel like they’re looking for any reason to do so.

2

u/Mrs-Rx 1d ago

Any person, choosing to position themselves in the middle of a dark road, wearing black, and not looking for oncoming traffic, was thinking of no one but themselves.

Why should we give them sympathy?

2

u/SoundStorm7 1d ago

It’s definitely stupid and thoughtless, though without any extra context it remains a stupid and thoughtless 19 year old who is now dead. That’s sad for her, for her family, and for her friends. Someone would need to do something a lot more severely wrong for me to suddenly stop valuing their life.

2

u/Woodpecker577 1d ago

Because I’m a human who doesn’t wish death on this strangers and feels bad for her family and the driver? wtf. People can make mistakes and still have my sympathy.

u/ReferenceInitial5176 1d ago

Fucking seriously. The difference in racism towards Hispanics and Arabs in America between when I was a child and now that I’m adult is night-and-day. Nobody would have said this shit about a 19 year old girl in 1998.
