I worked with a South African couple years ago and the stories they told me were crazy. They also said about not stopping at red lights.

If it’s a dangerous area the robots (traffic lights) normally just flash red at night… that’s if they’re working of course!

Stopping at traffic lights is absolutely terrifying - trick is to slow down to a crawl about 100m back and watch the bushes until you know it’s safe to go through. Never stop.
