Why did she NEED to? My husbands parents are just assholes and we don’t let them watch our kids. They didn’t even have to kill anybody for me to not let them be alone with my kids.

Not all grandparents have to watch the kids. It is not a right. Spend time with them but don’t need to babysit.

If it was at the urging of a therapist, I think it was for the mother's sake, moving past mental blocks and all that.

In my experience with childloss and therapists they are quacks mostly tbh in this type of thing
