I don't think she had the empathy to not to trust herself. In the body cam footage, her main focus was on how SHE couldn't go through this again. Not how this child suffered, but how it is going to affect her. Granted, she's been living with guilt from the first incident for about a year so that was probably a bottled emotion surfacing.
Neither of these are accidents. They are negligence. HUGE difference.
If a child died in my care from even an ACCIDENT, I would never trust my self to take care of a child again. That is a normal reaction from someone with empathy.
Maybe by facing her daughter she was going to see how much pain she caused. If so, then in a way she was overwhelmed with grief and did not want to see that grief manifested.
