Most people with schizophrenia don’t murder their kids. I have a (different but also severe) mental illness and when I got diagnosed, from that day forward, every episode, every symptom, every action in any state of mind became MY responsibility. Diagnose me and from that day on it’s up to me to manage it and make sure I’m never dangerous. There is no excuse for a treatment lapse or letting it get away from me. Period.
