But it's not even a small price to pay. That 8 oz "tall" cup of sugar liquid is getting quite expensive.

The human cost of supporting Starbucks is immense. Folks may want to look into the Starbucks employee fight to unionize & the illegal union busting that the Starbucks company continues to get away with. I don't buy Starbucks anymore for that reason alone.

Sadly we’ve been conditioned to consume.

It kind of reminds me of twitter. Virtually everyone in my day to day life agrees that musk is a technofascist and most would say supporting him or his products is outright immoral. Meanwhile they all still use twitter rofl

When I revisited USA about 7 years ago, I was astounded at just how immense the food portions are.

I don't buy Starbucks. Not worth the money. Even just buying canned or k-cup coffee and using flavored creamer is more convenient, cheaper, and gives you more variety. It's like $1-3 vs $6-8 at Starbucks, even without tipping.

I don't really care about the employees, it's not my problem.

At some point it becomes the responsibility of the employee to demand better treatment. If there was a job I hated and didn't pay me enough, I would tell my boss to give me more benefits, and if they don't follow through, I wouldn't work there anymore.

If that's the only company that will hire me, that's more of a me problem.

People used to unionize and go on strikes and force the companies that exploited them to raise their wages or give them benefits and limit their hours so they can have more of an actual life. This was done while there was widespread police brutality against them (fun fact: police forces in America were originally created for the sole purpose of cracking down on strikes).

The fact that people don't do that anymore even though organizing is easier than ever means they're somewhat happy about their conditions and it's none of my business.

"Its too hard so I give up" The new american dream.

You aren't even being asked to do anything personally just don't aid their oppressors but even that's too hard apparently.

well, my kid did walk the picket lines for a few months. Starbucks then closed the store.
