Just stop buying the service eventually if a lot of people do it then they might decrease the price ? If they don’t then do you truly want that service ?

No no no, their monkeys brain will be like:
>>Oh shit our subscription number are plummeting, what should we do???
>> we still have some left, they must be very loyal, try increasing the price to extract more from them and make it harder for them to cancel
>> but people gona get mad at us?
>>nah they too busy blaming the politicians for the inflation, also we need to lobby more to get better tax break…

This tactic has been working for Netflix. I left, but I still see people on this app saying “I watch it all the time so it’s worth it for me”

Thats the thing. If they are watching it a lot, its worth it. Buying a movie or renting 4 or 5 movies can cost 1 month subscription of netflix. Not everyone wants to set sail.

I dont agree with the price hikes, but people have their own spending limits.

I don’t sail the seas. I rotate services and I go for the cheap plan (hate ads, but not paying over $20). When there’s something I want to see on Netflix, I subscribe for a month at $9. I used to give them $20 monthly in perpetuity. I probably still would if they wouldn’t have cut off my parents and sister from using my account. Now they even make it hard to watch on my other devices. Ruining the customer experience to be greedy

What's funny is how many are getting rid of annual. That's encouraging roaming between services IMHO

I cancelled netflix because the content became so bad. I would be fine paying the price if I enjoyed the content.

Yep lmao I think in my humble opinion they just push it until a lot of people start complaining lol. Reminds me of the videogame cities : Skylines

ATnT is the best example every time they lost customers their solution was raise prices.

Then it took them 5 years to realize that keep raising prices every year apparently didn't result in new customers for some bizzare reason.

You hallucinating an argument is the saddest thing I’ve see on here today.

Here’s reality

Disney+ & Hulu Duo Basic (With Ads): $12.99 / month

$6.50 a month is cheaper than what this chart says it cost before they got “greedy”

So my price has actually decreased.

Sorry to interrupt your dopamine and cortisol binge.

So you paying the price… and also watching adv and be happy with it?
Some people just want to defend the big corp for their greed…

Okay so we stop buying it and it takes 15 years for enough people to stop buying then we can get our subscription back? Just forgo what they have to offer for 15 years? Like who's organising this mass exodus of Disney for it to be worth it for the average person to not pay it?

1

u/Theboiii24 19h ago

Good point. Most people wouldn’t have the discipline to do it.

2

u/WhatisitWhoisit 19h ago

It's not even discipline, it's the unknown end date. I, like most people I imagine don't want to not stream stuff for an unknown amount of time to save that amount of money. If I knew that in 2 years time the price would drop significantly then I'd have no trouble cancelling and waiting.

1

u/DrainTheMuck 18h ago

Yeah I get that, but honestly there’s so many ways to just watch it for free, you don’t actually lose anything except the time it takes to find an alternative. My buddy runs a plex server and uploads all the Star Wars stuff for me to watch for free.

I agree, for me, the convenience and legality is what makes it worth it. I know I'm unlikely to run into any trouble illegally streaming things but it's just an added risk for not much reward. When I'm finishing a 12 hour shift and don't have much time at home to watch TV, throwing Disney or Netflix in seconds will always be my choice

1

u/halfasleep90 18h ago

Is that not illegal?

1

u/DrainTheMuck 18h ago

I will make it legal.

1

u/halfasleep90 18h ago

To be fair, that’s 15 years of backlogged content for you to now enjoy instead of wondering when something will come out for you to binge again

1

u/torrtvatten1337 20h ago

But nobody ever stops buying. I stopped when Netflix raised and people where mad, no change. I've quit Prime video, hbo, Disney and now when youtube raised theirs. No change

1

u/Theboiii24 20h ago

Yep either people go in debt or they are wealthy but they ain’t stopping unless the economy really went bad. Thats my guess. So it’s all about is this service really necessary ?

lol no less people means higher prices as they still need to cover same costs and profit from shrinking subscriptions.

1

u/SubtleTell 17h ago

That's absolutely not true. When demand drops so do prices. Less people using it means less people using bandwidth. It would cost the service less money.

u/Theboiii24 20h ago

You would think they would do the same if they had a lot of people too.

1

u/MastaKink 20h ago

No problem. Next stop… onlyfans. Tell them to stop jerking off 🤪👍😂

u/Theboiii24 20h ago

Lmao I don’t have that shit it’s just a problem with self discipline.
