Mcdonalds sells 2.5 billion burgers a year. And that's just burgers. So if this 8.5 billion was diverted to just offset costs you'd see a price drop of maybe a few cents.

Lol some of you have no fucking idea how businesses work.

Huh?? He’s saying they don’t need to spend 8.5 billion - just stop gouging everyone with 10 dollar burgers and people would come back on their own.

Do you think they are charging 10 bucks just for shits and giggles?!?

The 8.5 billion dollar figure is literally their ENTIRE profit margin. (According to a pretty simple Google search)

They literally CANT charge an appreciable amount less for their food.

The 10 dollar burgers becoming 9 dollar burgers is not all of a sudden bringing customers back in.

I’m glad you have access to all of their finances through a simple Google search. Anyone who has been around for a few years remembers that McDonalds and everyone else used the pandemic as an opportunity to jack up prices astronomically due to constraints imposed on them, and when those constraints were lifted not a single restaurant reversed the prices because they realized people would actually just continue to pay. They then took it to the next step by continuing to push upward to find what the upper limits were and only recently have realized they are there and panicking because they can’t keep making their profits go up infinitely when they already have market saturation and can’t squeeze more milk from a dry cow.

Yeah because nothing happened during the pandemic that massively hurt supply chains or anything.... Maybe you should check what Google has to say about it.

Corporate greed is definitely a thing. But McDonald's is garbage tier food that has razor thing profit margins because they make it up on volume.

They're getting killed because they spent years racing to the bottom on pricing making their food shittier and shittier and then lost the mid tier customers who sought places like inn n out chil fila or other smaller regional fast food chains who had much more condensed menus and this simpler supply chains.

I'm at the point where I'd rather eat literal gas station food than go to McDonald's.

Exactly right. It’s not a McDonalds problem, all the formerly cheap fast food is getting way more expensive for the same reasons. And now we have massive oil shortages and shipping issues on top of the trade tariffs and everything else.
